Default Help-Mate programs - where to get ?!

Hello ,

a) sometimes I like (or better : try ..) to construct some
help-mate-problems --
unfortunately it is (being "human") sometimes awfully difficult to
prove that only
one solution exists ...

b) are there any help-mate-programs which could do such "proof-reading" ?!
and where can one get them ?!

c) thanx for any hint (and of course : "nice 2004") Ö

Hallo Claus,

google mal nach einer Freeware namens 'Popeye' zum Nachprüfen von
allerlei Arten von Problemschach.

Gruss, Christoph.

Fritz has a mate-solving engine included that does helpmates. Solutions
are *not* given in the traditional way (as far as I remember), but as
analysis trees.

Problemiste does, though there are unfortunately some minor problems
with it: checks in the next to last are not notated (i.e. the '+' is
missing), and require manual checking. (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/problemiste/
-- not freeware, though.)

Popeye -- and it's freeware. (I think there's a windows GUI front
end or two to it somewhere.)

It can be found at http://archiv.leo.org/pub/rec/games/popeye. Popeye has an
'intelligent' mode, very useful for longer helpmates (it won't do a brutal
search, but instead looks for mating patterns)

Another, commercial, option is Alybadix:
