Well, if you say someone else is a provincial like Peter did, you have to be
somebody yourself. But Peter seems to be a nobody. When it seems to you, cross yerself. They say it helps. |

Yes, Todd, I understand your anger but these guys are local people and you have to address them in their local language. Scary, isn't it? As I said before, the best is to simply ignore them. What so scary about it? I know a three-letter Dutch word from my friend Senya and I can place it here, why not? |

om... Oh, man : just read it. Don`t you know English ? Myself I prefer the Russian one. ![]() Why not in Polish? Did you know that Karol Wojtyla was/is a chessplayer? AFAIR it has already been discussed on rgcm. A chess task was published in "64" several decades ago allegedly composed by the Pope but it turned out to be only a hoax. And I haven`t heard so far that he could play chess. Bebchuk criticizes not these facts but the fact that FBI suspected that "they were taken into service by the powerful Russian KGB." Read carefully the whole article. Sure, Todd Flambers made a mistake here. It's a well known fact that Gerhardt Fischer was a communist. He opposed Hitler! I don't know about Regina. OK but I claim that Bebchuk didn`t make the mistake Flambers claims he did. He has no proofs that he didn`t talk to Fischer`s sister and to Fischer himself. Somebody who could do mistakes here is his sister. Surely it`s not pulp-fiction or a fairy-tale as Flambers claims. I'm just glad that I made you laugh. But Krabbe is a well known Fischer basher without an immediate or direct cause. OK Lance maybe Tim Krabbe is Fischer basher or maybe not but IMO Bebchuk is not one of them. He is even defending Fischer in his article from the accusation that he was a KGB spy. And AFAIR Sam Sloan would do anything to make Fischer come-back to US of course not to jail so I don`t think that he`s Fischer basher either.Regards, Jerzy |

As far as Regina Fischer`s studies in Moscow from 1933 till 1938 and her
marriage with German biophysician (Fischer) in Moscow are concerned, I understand that Bebchuk criticizes not these facts but the fact that FBI suspected that "they were taken into service by the powerful Russian KGB." Read carefully the whole article. Sure, Todd Flambers made a mistake here. Bebchuck doubts the fact that Regina lived in Moscow and studied the " But let us return to the other "facts". So, the mother of Fischer lived in our country for 6 years and even graduated from the medical institute. I doubt that. And here is why. When Bobby arrived to Moscow (in 1958 indeed, but not for a tournament but, as he said it himself, " to play blitz with the champion of the world Botwinnik"), he was not alone, but with his sister Joana. She was 3 years older than Fischer and gave me a small interview. A fragment from it is he - You and your family were some time in our country? - Bobby and me never been here, and my mum told me, that many years before our birth, early in her youth, she lived in Ukraine for almost a year: there was hunger at the time, and she, being a nurse, with a team of German medical experts helped to treat ill children. - Then this trip is especially interesting for your mother... - I do not know why, but she was for some reason against it. Bobby hardly managed to convince her." |

There is no word that she (Regina) hadn`t been in CCCP for 6 years and that she hadn`t studied there. So there is no mistake on Bebchuk`s side only on yours. Your false assumptions lead to false conclusions and unfortunately you are negatively biased toward Russian people (especially Russian journalists) Regards, Jerzy |

AFAIR it has already been discussed on rgcm. A chess task was published in "64" several decades ago allegedly composed by the Pope but it turned out to be only a hoax. And I haven`t heard so far that he could play chess. I read it somewhere written by a reliable journalist that he really composed chess problems and the he is a good chessplayer. Fischer's sister Joan was born in Moscow. She was only a year old when they returned to the USA. So perhaps, she didn't have a vivid recollection that her mom lived in Moscow, studied, got married, and delivered her there. OTOH, perhaps the interview didn't happen at all. OK Lance maybe Tim Krabbe is Fischer basher or maybe not but IMO Bebchuk is not one of them. He is even defending Fischer in his article from the accusation that he was a KGB spy. And AFAIR Sam Sloan would do anything to make Fischer come-back to US of course not to jail so I don`t think that he`s Fischer basher either. There's no question about Krabbe being a Fischer basher. As for Sloan, I agree with you. However, you didn't know that he broke the incorrect story about Fischer's father here in RGCP. He also claimed that he is one of the sources of the infamous Philly Inquirer journalists. All the best, Lance |

om... I read it somewhere written by a reliable journalist that he really composed chess problems and the he is a good chessplayer. Interesting : do you remeber that journalist and where it was printed ? Fischer's sister Joan was born in Moscow. She was only a year old when they returned to the USA. So perhaps, she didn't have a vivid recollection that her mom lived in Moscow, studied, got married, and delivered her there. OTOH, perhaps the interview didn't happen at all. How old was she when Fischer went to Moscow to play blitz with Botvinnik ? Bebchuk claims she was three years older than Robert. There's no question about Krabbe being a Fischer basher. As for Sloan, I agree with you. However, you didn't know that he broke the incorrect story about Fischer's father here in RGCP. He also claimed that he is one of the sources of the infamous Philly Inquirer journalists. That`s the role of (internet) journalist like Sam to give us up-to-date news here (sometimes shocking and untrue like alleged Leko-accident) even if they turn out to be only a gossip. All the best to You in 2004 ![]() Regards, Jerzy |

Read carefully : it is Fischer`s sister who claims that Regina Fischer had been in Ukraine for one year (very interesting indeed). It is Bebchuk who states that Fischer's sister made such a claim. As Fischer sister is dead she can't confirm that she really said it, so, no witnesses. It is also known that in 1957 Regina wrote a letter to Soviets and asked that her son be invited in the USSR, so she not only was not against the journey, but even helped her son to visit Moscow. There is no word that she (Regina) hadn`t been in CCCP for 6 years and that she hadn`t studied there. Bebchuk own words from the article are(how many times should I quote the same things?): " But let us return to the other "facts". So, the mother of Fischer lived in our country for 6 years and even graduated from the medical institute. I doubt that". That is what you call "No word"? Bebchuk bluntly says that he doubts this fact, don't you see that? Either you are inattentive yerself or you are cheating here. So there is no mistake on Bebchuk`s side only on yours. Your false assumptions lead to false conclusions and unfortunately you are negatively biased toward Russian people (especially Russian journalists) The article was found and shown to me and Peter by our Russian Internet friend who made an English translation and who is also for 100% sure that Bebchuk is lying. So yer claim that I am "negatively biased" towards "Russian people" it total crap. Next time think a bit before discussing things you have no idea about if you don't want to look ridiculous. End of story |
