Subject: Fischer Biography?

Thank you If you can get your hands on Frank Brady's "Profile of a Prodigy," you'll have a good Fischer biography. My personal favorite, however, is not available in English. It is the German-language edition of "Das Schachphaenomen: Robert Fischer," written by H. Kramer and S.H. Postma and translated (from the Dutch) by Ludwig Rellstab. George Mirijanian |

Could anyone recommend a good biography or some sources for biographical information. I don't know if these are the best, but I have: 1. Profile of a Prodigy, by Frank Brady, but it was written in the mid-60s so it didn't cover his whole career. At least that is my edition, there might be a later edition. 2. The Games of Robert J. Fischer, by Wade and O'connell. It contains mostly games, but there are several good chapters written by various people. ------------------------------------- Replace you know what by "j" to email. |

I have Croatian edition of the book by Dimitrije Bjelica "My friend
Bobby Fischer". I don't know if it has been translated into english, but it's a very good book. |

... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Fischer Except that Fischer did not "[sit] out the Interzonals" -- he in fact crushed the field at Palma 1970. And the article confuses "adjudications" and "adjournments." |

Here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Fischer Of course she could try finding "The Games of Robert J. Fischer" by Robert Wade and Kevin O'Connell (Batsford 1972). I liked it a lot - and it has just about all games up to and including the WC match against Spassky. Several biograhpical articles in there as well. /M. |

Could anyone recommend a good biography or some sources for biographical information. Thank you In addition to Frank Brady's "Bobby Fischer : Profile of a Prodigy (Revised Edition)," an absolute must read is Rene Chun's article "Bobby Fischer's Pathetic Endgame" in the December, 2002 "Atlantic" magazine. While it came in for some criticism in this newsgroup for its "inaccuracies," it must be said that any such errors were trivial factoids, not going to the basic thrust of the article, which is that in the years since the height of his fame, Fischer suffered severe mental deterioration. |
