Default Macintosh ICC/FICS client?

Is there anything other than Fixation? I find the interface ugly, and
many of the pieces look alike, unless the board is tiny. Any
alternatives?

Would it be possible to tweak Chessic to play on FICS? At least it
connects you to ICC.
http://www.orcsoftware.com/~jocke/chessic/

http://www.stratlabs.com/
is maybe another.

The author of Sigma Chess is pondering to implement it in the next
version, I believe. Maybe even in the free light version.

There's always javaboard http://www.freechess.org/javaboard/. If you're
using MacOS X, you should be able to get xboard or one of the other Unix/
Linux programs to work.

I'll check them.

That would be great. I use Sigma Chess and it's a great program, and
it's a very nice interface.

Thanks, I didn't know about the javaboard.

I'll look at some of the other Unix programs - maybe they'll compile on
OS X.

For OS X there is also "jin chess client" (I never tested it because I use
OS 9 at home), but it has an OS X version to download.

Yes - for OS X there is Chessic:
http://www.orcsoftware.com/~jocke/chessic/
I've used it and it works. I've been using Virtual PC with the ICC
application, but not what I understand the interface/IRC a little better I
will try go back to checking out Chessic. Its free, and works with 10.2 and
up (don't know about 10.3).
