Hi all...
I'm a volunteer at an elementary school, and we have a floundering chess club that just started last year. I need advice. Does anyone recommend any materials, resources, links, books, or have any ideas as to how to "run" a chess club for YOUNG KIDS (grades 1-4). Our kids are mostly beginners. We can tell them to play the game, and we can teach them the fundamentals, but can anyone suggest any ways to teach strategies to kids? Or are there any cool "exercises" or interesting ways to build up kids' chess skills? As far as coaching goes, we have about 3 parents who can chaperone and have very basic skills in chess, but none of us are masters by any means, though we want to challenge these kids and keep them interested for an hour a week. Thanks in advance. |

You may want to contact NM Dan Heisman
