Some time ago, a poster questioned whether Mucklow had in fact received an 8th
place prize in London 1851. I had never heard any such claim; my tournament book shows 8 prizes awarded with Mucklow getting 8th. Although I still believe that Mucklow did receive an 8th place prize, I was surprised to see that Der Humorist, July 30, 1851, lists only 7 prize winners for the tournament, so there may be confusion on this issue essentially since the tournament ended. I was able to find only 2 reports on London 1851 in the Austrian papers (though I did not check every page, only those I felt were most likely); these are on July 19 and July 30, 1851.
