Careful, Garry. Don't get yourself put in jail.
http://www.russiajournal.com/news/cn...shtml?nd=42135 MOSCOW - Today an anti-Putin coalition "Committee-2008" creation is expected to be announced. This organization, created and promoted for the most part by Union of Right Forces (SPS) party, sets an objective of making a "civil" citizen the next president of Russia, not Vladimir Putin "heir", as one of its founders, Boris Nemtsov, SPS party leader, explained. The president of the new coalition is Garry Kasparov, a famous chess-player. Many well-known journalists are among its members, like Eugeny Kiselev and Viktor Shenderovich. The minimum objective of the "Committee-2008" is ‘survival of democrats and politicians' as one of the members formulated, and maximum is ‘making Russia democratic after Putin', according to Boris Nemtsov. The participants' main concern is what Russia will become after Putin, and they are going to fight for ‘Constitution non-changeability', ‘free and transparent elections', as well to get ready to compete at elections 2008 with the current president successor, Kommersant reports. Garry Kasparov has not commented yet on his new position, but he already tried to go in for politics before and in 1996 supported the late general Alexander Lebed in his movement "The third force", which gained no success in 2000. Yabloko party members were not invited to join the new structure. One of Yabloko leaders Sergey Mitrokhin comments that main objective for democratic forces now is participation in regional elections, and he sees no need in an additional democratic structure, as many already exist. |

om... Careful, Garry. Don't get yourself put in jail. http://www.russiajournal.com/news/cn...shtml?nd=42135 MOSCOW - Today an anti-Putin coalition "Committee-2008" creation is expected to be announced. Did Kasparov want it to be called "Committee-1008"? Alan |

s.com... Careful, Garry. Don't get yourself put in jail. Why? Aren't those days over with in Russia? Right, I don`t think that Putin and the justice apparatus in Russia will put him in jail because of his political views. Russia is now quite a different country than CCCP/USSR used to be. And besides if you talk to Russian people here ( USA ) many will tell you that he's the best thing that's happened to Russia. Not everyone agree's with the guy but he certainly is someone Kasparov will certainly not intimidate. One can agree or disagree with Kasparov`s political views but he is a well-known person and a kind of authority and a true politician shouldn`t disregard/ignore them without discussion. Regards, Jerzy I'm not saying Putin is going to ignore him but from what I heard about the guy Kasparov is making a big mistake if he thinks Putin will be intimidated. Someone in the Martial arts told me that Putin is a 1st degree black belt in karate. I said that sounds cool. The guy who was from russia said, No, you don't understand. He is not a 1st degree black by USA standards. He is a first degree black belt by Russian standards. To get a black belt in karate in Russia is a special thing and extremely difficult to get. In other words you have to be one heck of a good martial artist to get a 1st degree black belt in Russia. The things you learn just from talking to people who are from there. EZoto |

I thought that judo was his favourite pastime ;-) Anyway, it sounds and looks good when politicians aren`t simply talking-heads but exercise some sports like judo, jogging or chess ;-) Regards, Jerzy |
