Default Players saying "Check!" can it be stopped?

For the second time I have been playing chess at my club and there is
a small boy who is playing someone else but keeps blurting "check!"
"Check!" over and over. The other small child that he was playing
would immediately move leadign to another "check!" This must have
gone on for about 3 minutes. That may not seem long and I really
can't explain why it annoys me so much but I find it very irritating.
One time he was sitting right next to me the other time he was accross
the room but could still clearly be heard. If asked to should (or
must) a TD tell the boy to stop announcing "Check!" even though I am
not his opponent and the opponent appearently doesn't care? What do
you think under USCF? Can a TD continue to let this go on? I'm
pretty sure under FIDE rules I can insist he stop.

Thanks

Maybe you ca ask some one to ask him to be a little quieter ??
You said he was a little kid so maybe he does not realize he is being
loud ?

Was he putting the other player in check? There is no rule that I am
aware of that says you can't announce check if it is check. Now if it
wasn't check, I'd guess you have a complaint.

Ken

Actually, im pretty sure check or no check, the only time you speak to
your opponent is to offer a draw or to accept/decline such, to resign the
game, or to warn that you are about to adjust the pieces. Calling out
"check" to indicate such is against the rules, I do believe, and the TD
should make him stop at someones complaint.

Rule 12F: Calling check not mandatory. Announcing check is not required, and
is rare in high-level tournaments.......A player may announce check.

hmm, ok seems i have been corrected. But doesn't it say that the opponent
speaking disturbing or distracting you is not allowed, and isn't this such?
seems contradictory, but then again I had no idea there was actually a
mention of announcing check in the rulebook, I had always thought only those
three situations above allowed one player to speak to another during play.

Don't forget kiddies love check - it makes them think they are winning

I spoke to a guy who runs a youngster team packed with check announcing
young patzers and he told me that in their games they would do ANYTHING for
a check eg capture a rook or play a check? no contest.

FIDE has a general rule against obnoxious and off-putting behaviour -- Law
12.5: `It is forbidden to distract or annoy the opponent in any manner
whatsoever. This includes unreasonable claims or offers of a draw.' --
surely USCF must have one, too.

For example, under FIDE Article 4.2, `Provided that he first expresses his
intention (e.g. by saying "j'adoube" or "I adjust"), the player having the
move may adjust one or more pieces on their squares,' one could constantly
handle one's opponent's pieces on their turn; Law 12.5 forbids this.

Yes, I used to play an older gentleman that would say "Madame" when he
attacked my queen.
