I know I'm late on this, but since no one has mentioned it, is this not a

900% mark-up?

Know it is a 1000% markup and a 90% margin.

Know it is a 1000% markup ...

Wait a minute. Are you saying that selling it for $2 is a 100% markup? No. Selling it for $2 is a 0 markup. $4 would be a 100%
markup. $6 would be a 200% markup. Do the rest of the math.

I think what you mean to say is that it represents 1000% of the cost.

and a 90% margin.

That much is correct.

To all concerned:

Please continue this discussion, if you will, *not* on rec.games.go.

Thank you. :-)

What can I tell you? We're only trained to add and subtract.

Dumnox.

We are talking about go books, which is what we publish.

Great way to get yourself elected: lie to the electorate and
then justify the lie by patronizing them.

Dave, how much do you think that most voters really care about being lied to?

Lying to the voters and then justifying those lies by patronizing the voters
(many of whom actually may prefer to accept their favourite palliative
sources of propaganda rather than to face unwelcome facts) has been and
continues to be a successful method of operation for many political leaders.

As one example (of many possible), please note that at least some political
supporters of Tony Blair and George Bush have been contending that the issues
of to what extent either leader deceived or lied to his people about the
alleged existence of WMD in Iraq must be irrelevant because (this seems to
be a weak argument to me) those deceptions or lies were not exposed soon
enough and conclusively enough to prevent the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
Apparently to at least some people, a successful 'fait accompli' could fully
justify the evident lies that engendered it.

Further, you're making the assumption that nobody in the USCF reads these
groups.

As far as I can tell, I doubt that Sam Sloan makes that assumption.

If that is the case, could you please stop splurging all this USCF politics
here? In any case, it *certainly* does not belong in rgc.misc as there is
a more specific group.

Rec.games.chess.politics has long been known as a de facto USCF politics
newsgroup, with a highly nationalistic, ethnocentric, and sometimes
apparently xenophobic dominant American political culture.

As far as I know, Sam Sloan often has been asked to stop or at least to
abridge his continuing cross-posting, but there has been no effect on him.
