How very interesting!?! I had NEVER heard or read "Storm in a teapot"

I assume the poster was joking.

The original poster, David Richerby (of England), was not joking
when he wrote (27 March 2004) of 'a storm in a teacup'.

The expression is and always has been "tempest in a teapot"

Perhaps that's the more familiar phrase in the United States.

But there's a 1937 British film, 'Storm in a Teacup', which featured
Vivien Leigh and Rex Harrison.
