Does anyone know what Andy Kitchlew is up to these days?
Many years ago I used to play chess with him on Clapham Common. Alan |

Try Albany Chess Club (formerly International Students chess club), their details can be found on http://www.geocities.com/zoe_ryle/zoe2.html (of the contacts it's probably better to approach Bardi). You might do as well just to turn up at that club one Monday. Andrew Kitchlew has been (was?) a member of it for years, although the last time I saw a team from Albany was about two and a half years ago when he did play. Apropos of nothing, I believe his father also used to play chess. Many years ago I used to play chess with him on Clapham Common. Careful, I trust you didn't meet Ron Davies there. :-) On the subject of dodgy MPs, did you see that Piers Merchant is attempting to make a comeback? Regards, Simon. |

Alan I believe that Andrew Horton Kitchlew used to go round British rating restricted tournaments picking up many prizes. The rumour I heard was that he was banned from some UK tournaments because of artifically making up results to keep his rating low. Sort of the reverse of what Amparasvilli and some Burmese players were accused of ![]() |

The libel laws in Britain are rather fearsome.:-) I only played Kitchlew once, about five years ago, in a league match; he struck me as playing at roughly what his grade was. His deliberately eccentric opening play handicapped him, nonetheless, he wasn't happy at the end, and I doubt he chucked it; particularly given those were matches we tended to win about 7.5 - 0.5, with our opponents desperate to avoid a whitewash.
