Give Mike a break. As far as I know he was the first with the concept of a
positional database (storing positions rather than just move sequences) and it
still has features no other software has last I checked. It is the easiest and
most user friendly for setting up endgame training databases, for example. So
use it if it suits your needs or use something else if it doesn't.

Its certainly the best if you want to play opening systems with colors
reversed, since it catches all transpositions with colors reversed, which no
other software did last I checked.

probably the critic doesn't understand the way Bookup positions are stored,
which is different than other software, but has a lot of advantages

I think he has a free version anyone can try to see if they like the concept,
if not there are plenty of alternatives. But Bookup is very useful for some
applications.

Asking gently will not work. This guy thinks that there are only two
people on the entire internet, he and Mike, and classify you and me, and
everybody that doesn't like him or what he is doing in the group as
"Mike Leahy under another nickname".
