It has long been known that overdoing practically anything can often lead to negative consequences, and a new study has confirmed that in at least one recorded instance, the over-consumption of certain types of fungi (or "magic mushrooms," as they are commonly called) has lead to a classic case of troll-paranoia, as shown in the following quote-lets, taken at random from google archives of one victim's paranoid rants: ------- This post is being written at the risk of feeding the troll, Lance Smith Given the heading of this troll thread the deranged anonymous troll "Briarroot" So perhaps I should wait for 'my' next troll I do have a personal objection to 'trolls' The reason why he labels you a troll is because he is a troll Wlodzimierz Holsztynski has been writing...in the baseless troll thread The troll "could begin by reading Eric Alterman's book *if* the reader is reasonably literate...should be able to determine that the troll What does it signify when one troll...identifies another...? So I would submit that an extremely transparent troll Jason the Troll has hit a nerve...which is exactly what the troll wanted Now the troll has had success Thanks to 'Ivan the Troll' for corroborating his status as a troll Tim Hanke created the baseless troll thread a troll makes another false statement personally attacking me Greg Kennedy...is a well-known inveterate troll I have concluded that Isidor Gunsberg is just another troll Unfortunately, creating troll threads...is nothing new here Will the troll "Briarroot" be next? Kevin Bachler is welcome to join a mutual admiration society with his inveterate troll friends I also have been the target of a comparable troll thread Are you a troll too? Angelo DePalma snipped my cited recent example of his trolling There's no point in playing tag with the troll At other times, unfortunately, you have written like a troll Yes, but are you saying that your intention to troll varies like the weather? right at the start of this troll thread, you stated: ....Mike Murray's posts do seem motivated by his evident intention to troll Mark Houlsby The Masked Bishop" made the decision to cross-post that troll thread I wrote that Lance Smith is a "nearly illiterate troll" You seem close to being a troll in your relations with me here It could be considered 'sensible' only for a troll to do I have no doubt that some troll(s) will continue to jump to baseless conclusions The usual troll(s) may jump to their usually ludicrous conclusion(s) At least Goran Tomic seems to play better than Werner Peters (aka 'Guest Destroyer'), a troll who haunted rec.games.chess.analysis In my opinion, it seems to be an overstatement to claim, as some troll(s)(which is *not* to say that they would include Ian Burton) have insinuated ---------- As can be clearly seen from just a few relevant snippets (taken at random from what likely runs into the tens of thousands of such quotes of one severely afflicted victim), the "magic mushrooms" contain -- albeit in small amounts -- a deadly poison, which affects the brain such that the victim develops a bizarre paranoia, imagining that "trolls" surround him at every turn, and even sometimes projecting that his friends or aquaintances are plagued by the imaginaries, in the very same way! Sadly, there is not yet any effective cure for this very rare disease, though the serious research into its actual causes has just begun. Anyone with further information on how consumption of these peculiar mushrooms have affected their thinking process -- especially with regard to logic, spatial skills, or pattern recognition -- please contact me immediately so I can finish my thesis and get my third PhD (the first two only made me "overqualified," so I need at least one more). Thanks. -- Doc |

Oh this magic mushrooms can really wreck havoc to the brains. What would be the cure then Dr. NoMoreChess? There is no known cure for trollophobia, but some symptoms may be relieved if the victim ceases ingesting the poisons, and focuses deeply on introspection, rather than constantly looking around for imaginary hobgoblins. Consider the following self-revealing quotelet, for example, and its implications with regard to its "speaker": The reason why he labels you a troll is because he is a troll This victim's myopic fascination with "trolls," and "trolling" in general, is fascinating material for further scientific research. -- Doc |
