"Tim Hanke" wrote in message om... "Abu Ali" wrote in message ... Shame on the Americans on let Zionists drive their foreign policy for decades. Hmm, let's examine this situation. On the one hand, we see a small but brave country that shares most of our cultural ideals. I have to agree with this. Deeply rooted racism, genocide, mass expulsion thru killing and terrorising, robbing of land and resources etc. But still its a shame when a small country drives the foreign policy of big country. |

"Every time we do something you tell me Americans will do this and will do
that. I want to tell you something very clear, don't worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it." Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres. |

Anybody who asks this question shows he hasn't understood what a rating system is. You can demonstrate easily enough how the average rating has changed with time; however, you cannot show how the player strength for a given rating has changed: In order to do this you would need to measure strength, i.e. you need a rating system... Rating systems measure *relative* strength, they cannot measure *absolute* strength. That`s right, on the basis of a rating list we can only predict what is the probability of a result of a game between two rated players. However it`s a common phenomenon that we use ratings as a relative measure of players` strength. And what should be Fischer`s position after his another come-back to chess after another 20 years ? Or can we claim that Kasparov is still number one by playing strength judging by his rating ? He has played in tournaments rarely recently, once a year or so (many games against computer software), and he doesn`t win tournaments as he used to in the past. However he is still number one in the rating list. And last but not the least : what about Myanmar players` case ? They had played only in their country for several years and their ratings were skyrocketing, however in the international competition it turned out that their ratings were artificial and much to high. Kasparov used to be at 2890+ and is these days at 2810+
Anand used to be at 2840+ and is these days at 2780+ Kramnik used to be at 2840+ and is these days at 2770+ Kind of like when the best record in the NBA is 57-25 or something like that. |

America supports Israel primarily for strategic reasons. Its cheaper
using Israel as a meat shield for the terrorists and arab expansionists than to put our own massive military base in place. "Abu Ali" wrote in message ... "Tim Hanke" wrote in message om... You could do it (measure the change in player strength for a given rating over time) with a player of constant strength - say a computer program - and record it's performance against players of various ratings over time. A meta-rating system, if you will. That wouldn't work because, with time, players would learn more about this fixed opponent and play better against it. You may be confusing the PCA and FIDE ratings, which are seperate so not directly comparable.
