In article ,
NoMoreChess writes snip This is merely conecting dots, assessing that "the U.S" got what was coming to "them," but completely missing the obvious: that the U.S. government, not the innocent victims of 9/11, was supposed to "get what was coming to them." What's your view of those hurt and killed in the Pentagon on 911? -- banana "The thing I hate about you, Rowntree, is the way you give Coca-Cola to your scum, and your best teddy-bear to Oxfam, and expect us to lick your frigid fingers for the rest of your frigid life." Considering my uncle was one of those murdered on 9/11 and seeing what Asshole Bobby said about it, itąs a shame they didnąt beat him more. Asshole Bobby deserves the Ezra Pound Treatment and should be dragged into a courtroom while in a cage. A fitting tribute for that worthless animal OK, the link doesn't work. What is this all about? So people should be beaten for their views if you disagree with them strongly enough? Frightening world you propose! |

Out of interest, have you ever said that when the US government has committed acts of mass murder against innocent people? I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I will try to answer. Well, let's take the American Indian, for example. Europeans came over and nearly wiped them out, yet when they made their big comeback against the U.S. at The Little Big Horn, I did not praise them for this massacre; what I did was post quotes of Colonel Custer, who had said something really stupid about Indians -- the same Indians who later took his scalp. Others have pointed out that the events of 9/11 did not just pop out of a clear blue sky, but were the result of, and in a sense, caused by American foreign policy, and I agree. I can "connect the dots," but here in Amerca, it is "standard practice" to blindly chant the words: my country, right or wrong! And many people -- including some of my close relatives -- will not even dare to think about such an idea, when it is so much easier to continue the chant they were taught as a child. You can tell the blinded ones right off, for they will invariably sidestep questions about blunders by the U.S., by reminding you that *others* have committed far greater crimes. When still challenged on the issue of "our" wrongdoing, the poor children of ignorance will eventuall get hot under the collar, and turn to argumentum ad hominem -- not that I blame them, for where else could they turn? :-) Next OT episode: The Nuking of Japan by the evil USA., with commentary on the nuclear tests at Bikini Atol. |

What's your view of those hurt and killed in the Pentagon on 911? I found it strange that the World Trade Center was completely destroyed, yet the Pentagon (not to mention the White House) suffered only minimal damage. In the case of the United States, it seems foolish for anyone to attack us openly, as by declaring war -- which they are presumably going to lose. So in that respect, I "understand" why someone prone to violent methods would resort to terrorism, as opposed to war. But I certainly don't approve of it. First of all, there are superior methods. And secondly, there is always the possibility of resolving issues *without violence.* Even though the workers in the Pentagon were mainly employed by the government, I would class them right along with those killed in the WTC and in the airplanes used as weaponry. The fact that they were a part of the government doen not make them a "legitimate" target for terrorists. Sorry, but terrorists are simply not entitled to legitimacy. |
