I agree that Fischer did make a serious attempt to have Ellsworth killed by making these remarks and reading the man's home address over the radio, suggesting that someone "say hello" to him, that he was "worthy of death," etc. However, as far as I know, no one has yet killed Bob Ellsworth; and if Fischer were to be charged by the U.S. government for this (apparently unsuccessful) attempt to persuade some undetermined "friend" to make an attempt, he could, IMO, undoubtedly get off on an insanity plea. The only trouble is that Fischer would refuse to make such a plea, and it would have to be made for him by the court, ruling him unfit to represent himself against such a charge. In all likelihood, Fischer's "defense" would be that Ellsworth *was* worthy of death and that the true criminals here were Ellsworth and the Bekins Storage Company. |

Now our "Nick" adds his two cents: I have to say that still does *not* seem unquestionably clear that it was intended as a *serious attempt* 'to kill somebody' (to quote Graeme) [...] Please read my explanation, which was completely snipped by Wlodzimierz Holsztynski, in my post earlier in this thread. To which I have made a reasonable remark: Wlodzimierz Holsztynski wrote: said the rgcm village idiot, the phoeny, racially prejudiced AntiZionist "Nick Boutbaki". Wlod Wlodzimierz Holsztynski's characteristically abusive language would be considered quite inappropriate and not to be tolerated in any circle of my friends, including my Israeli Jewish friends who have strongly criticised, as I do, the state of Israel's continuing oppression of the Palestinians. As far as I can tell from his posts here, Wlodzimierz Holsztynski evidently worships the state of Israel and regards all of its policies as above criticism, at least from all criticism by anyone who's not perceived as Jewish by him. Wlodzimierz Holsztynski wrote (about the Palestinians): "Just give them a chance and they will murder." --Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (27 July 2004, 'Patriotism has no rational basis?') "Let all of the self-righteous ones who speak of ruthless Palestinian murderers take a hard look into the mirror and ask themselves what they would have done had they been the ones living under (Israeli) occupation. I can say for myself that I, Yitzhak Frankenthal, would undoubtedly have become a freedom fighter and killed as many on the other side as I possibly could. It is this depraved hypocrisy that pushes the Palestinians to fight us relentlessly--our (Israel's) double standard that allows us to boast the highest military ethics while the same military slays innocent children." --Yitzhak Frankenthal (27 July 2002, from his speech in Jerusalem) I had the privilege of having known the late Israel Shahak, a professor at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Chairman of the Israeli League of Human and Civil Rights. Israel Shahak was born in Poland, grew up in a Zionist family, took part in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and survived the Belsen concentration camp. As far as I know of him, he would have regarded Wlodzimierz Holsztynski with disdain. Perhaps Wlodzimierz Holsztynski enjoys the company of persons who appreciate the kind of abusive language that he prefers to use again and again here. What's Wlodzimierz Holsztynski raving about again? Of course Wlodzimierz Holsztynski has completely snipped the context following my rhetorical question (above). Please read my earlier post. Not raving but showing common sense. It takes an raving idiot like "Nick Bourbaki" to make his another idiotic comment. Now "Nick" has both of his feet in his dirty mouth. "I have never insulted anybody." --Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (5 December 2003) Contrary to what he may prefer to believe about himself and to have the more naive readers here believe, Wlodzimierz Holsztynski has a long record of making insults against many persons (not only me) in the chess newsgroups. Indeed, one reader here (Andreas Walkenhorst) has won a bet by having predicted when Wlodzimierz Holsztynski would write his next insult (against Anatoly Karpov) in the chess newsgroups. Wlodzimierz Holsztynski has denounced me for being 'racially prejudiced'. If Wlodzimierz Holsztynski and I had both been living in South Africa under apartheid, then Wlodzimierz Holsztynski would have been a privileged member of the 'master race' and I one of the 'subhumans' under the laws of apartheid. The pro-apartheid government of South Africa had a close alliance, particularly militarily, with Israel, a state that Wlodzimierz Holsztynski seems to regard as above criticism. Jerome Bibuld (who undoubtedly sincerely opposed apartheid) has advised me: "Once again, I offer the advice that you ignore sick bacilli, such as Wlodzimierz Holsztynski. ... As a friend...I once again urge you to ignore them. Correcting their baldfaced lies and the parroting of the lies of their masters is one thing. Arguing with them serves no purpose..." --Jerome Bibuld (12 June 2004, writing to me) I do *not* propose to 'argue' with Wlodzimierz Holsztynski, though I reserve the right to correct the distortions and falsehoods that he may write again. "If, in a party, a stranger should make a remark of which you do not approve, you must express your sentiments to a friend, loud enough for the offending party to hear, but taking great care not to look towards him; for he would imagine you are addressing him, whereas you are doing nothing of the kind." --from 'Hints on Etiquette for the University of Oxford' (1838) To be realistic, I do *not* expect Wlodzimierz Holsztynski to stop his many insults against me. "The killing of those of 'us' counts as a crime; the rest are unpeople." --John Pilger (The New Rulers of the World, p. 137) 'You can only be destroyed by believing that you really are what the white world calls a ******.' --James Baldwin --Nick (one of the 'unpeople') |
