Chess Professional Salary by
EG
Hi,
What is the average salary that chess professionals make like GMs and
IMs?
I keep seeing a ton of GMs play at weekend swiss events and also
several players play international in tournaments in Europe and
Russia. A lot of them are the same players too. So what kind of
salary are they making from their winning each year?

TASC chess computer. by
EZoto
Anybody know what happened to that TASC chess computer that was on
ebay? I was watching it and now it is gone? The seller had zero
feedback so it seemed a bit risky.

Kamsky out. by
EZoto
I thought for sure he would qualify but Gelfand was very well prepared
for him so congrats to Gelfand. Hard to believe that Kamsky didn't
know about ...d5! in that variation of the sicilian Rossolimo.
I still believe Rublevsky will pull it off.
Don't know if Shirov can do it again.

Susan Polgar "Fighting for Chess" by
samsloan
Susan Polgar writes today at http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com/2007/06/fighting-for-chess.html
:
"There are plenty more outrageous fabrications simply to
confuse the USCF members. Some even challenged how many women's world
championships I won or how many national championships my husband has
won."
OK. So tell us: How many woman's world championships have you won and
how many national...

Regarding Susan's Record by
samsloan
You obviously know nothing, zero, about the playing career of Zsuzsa
Polgar.
She NEVER won the Woman's Junior Championship because she refused to
play in any woman's tournament. This fact was well known to everybody
in the world except for, apparently, you.
I got her into the Overall World Junior Championship and I got her
sister Judit into the World Championship for Boys by mailing a letter
to...

Novice question : ply vs depth by
Willie K. Yee, MD
What is the difference between ply and depth in discussing computer
chess program. I understand ply to be the number of 1/2 moves ahead
that are searched.

Whitaker Hartleb book by
SBD
A study book I have by Bondarenko cites this "365" book - it's
publication date was 1968, and it lists the book at "365
Auswahlte(sic) Endspiele," with a *1960* publication date and
"Heidelberg" as the city of issue.
I would contend this makes it likely that the book was probably issued
by Rudi Schmaus - his chess bookstore and publishing venture were both
located there.
I don't know copyright...

UNDERWEAR LINGERIE by
RicoConnely@gmail.com
Lingerie is a term for women's fashion underwear. It derives from the
French word 'lin' for linen. While the term in the French language
applies to all underwears for either sex, in English it is applied
only to those women's underwears designed to be visually appealing or
erotic, typically incorporating materials such as nylon (nylon
tricot), polyester, satin, lace and/or silk, and not applied...

good tactic book by
R.P.
Hi,
currently I read "chess tactic for advanced player" from Averbakh and I like
the book very much because it tries to break down the combinations and tactic
patterns into elementary atoms. So it does not only present examples and exercises
but develops a theory of chess tactic. Who knows other books about chess tactic
which are written in the same manner ?

Recommended Chess Pieces & Board by
cockatoo@aussieisp.net.au
It is odd to find such a quality set, mass produced and available to
a large number of the public. Designed by Kasparov it says on the
box, hard to believe.

PAUL TRUONG:
Happy To Be A USCF Member
BY RANDALL HOUGH
Assistant Editor, Chess Life
Paul Truong is a survivor. And although he would like to say that his
love for chess helped to sustain him during two hellish weeks in early
1979 aboard a crowded, leaky, wooden refugee boat -- it would be
untrue.
