Susan Polgar Version of the "National Chess Championship" by samsloan
I see what you mean. Her comments are he http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com/2007/05/success-of-china-and-demise-of-us.html Her blog contains an amazing number of false statements even by the standards of Susan. By the way, she quotes me directly without attribution. Among her many false and misleading statements is: "No board member has spoken to me about this."

E. Forry Laucks by samsloan
E. Forry Laucks was one of the great patrons of the game of chess from the 1930s until his death on July 31, 1965 during the US Open Chess Championship in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. In 1934, Laucks established the Log Cabin Chess Club in his home at 30 Collamore Terrace, West Orange, New Jersey. All the top players played there for the substantial cash prizes he offered at the major tournaments...

Neoorthodox Chess by Mats Winther
What would happen if we increased the board with one more square to the bottom right? The corner square provides a hiding nest for the king should the player want to invoke play on the same wing and advance with the pawns. Extended castle rule: besides normal castling one can choose to move the king three squares instead of two. The rook ends up on its usual square. The extended castle rule...

Goichberg moves to the top of Polgar's Enemies List by samsloan
Take a look at Susan's latest screed at: http://susanpolgar.blogspot.com/2007/05/success-of-china-and-demise-of-us.html In it, through postings by others, Susan attacks Bill Goichberg six times. She only attacks Sam Sloan four times. It is well known that Susan will delete any comment with which she disagrees. Thus, any posting that remains on her blog for more than a few seconds will be...

Donna Alarie's Complaint by samsloan
Donna Alarie has hit the problem right on the head, as usual. Our last several Executive Directors have been out of control. Board members find out about it too late after the money is gone or sometimes never find out about it. For example, a few months ago I discovered a payment of $13,358.36 that the Executive Director had paid to a certain person, even though the VP of Finance had...

Topalov,Veselin (2772) - Sasikiran,Krishnan (2690) at Mtel, 2007, Sofia, Bulgaria by Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (Wlod)
Please, tell me that I am wrong (but do it for the right reason :-). The ICC Weekly Newsletter â—? Vol. II - issue XVIII â—? Friday, May 25, 2007 â—? shows the position from Topalov - Sasikiran after black's 31st move. I understand that Topa wants to win the tournament and so he wants to win the given game but he doesn't have anything in this position. So he makes a ridiculous sac: 32.Nxh5??...

The "Save the Children" Campaign by samsloan
I agree and thank you for pointing this out. Don Schultz was a big organizer and supporter of scholastic chess BEFORE the big bucks came in and before there was money to be made from scholastic chess. Also, Bill Goichberg virtually invented scholastic chess because he was the first to hold USCF rated scholastic tournaments. Many of our top players today got their start playing in Goichberg...

The best slate: Sloan, Goodall, Lux and Jones by samsloan
We're 4 men with strong integrity. If we're elected, we'll vote to make Don Schultz the lifetime honorary president of the USCF. He's the Campomanes of this federation. Make sure you vote for Sloan, Lux, Goodall and Jone. These are my personal friends and I endorse them.
