Interesting game in today's Final. I'm hoping that someone tuned in to
ICC or other sources might have heard some expert commentary that shed
light on what happened. See brief comments below.

Another Grandiose Claim by Susan Polgar by
samsloan
On the USCF Forums, Susan Polgar wrote,
"I am asked why my husband and I want to be on the board to serve.
Simple! We have completely different expertise in areas that can
greatly help the USCF which none of the candidates have. This board
knew what we can do. We had a potential sponsor who wanted to give $1
mil to chess gradually over the next few years. That individual told
this board...

Can someone explain to me how Fischer vs. Tal is a Draw? by
Knight1
Robert James Fischer vs Mikhail Tal
Bad Portoroz izt 1958 · Ruy Lopez, Closed (C92) · 1/2-1/2
How is this game a draw when Tal has two passed pawns???
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1044078&kpage=1
Why doesn't Tal take the rook after 39.Rhg7+ 39...Nxg7 40.Rxa8+ and there is no way Fischer can stop those two passed black pawns.

Lafayette, Grant, Hillary and Zsuzsa Polgar by
samsloan
Jack LeMoine has just displayed the most astounding ignorance of
American history imaginable. He should go back to wherever it is he
came from. It could not be here, nor could it be France, because
otherwise he would know that the Marquis de Lafayette, French Soldier
& Statesman, was one of the most important persons in the entire
history of France.
The Marquis de Lafayette did not merely...

Scumbag Hal Bogner and chessmagnetschool.com can't be trusted by
samsloan
The story that Bogner and his cohorts keep pushing is that FOC members
were doing "dirty deeds," as someone previously wrote, and that
necessitated Bogner playing the role of KGB informer for the Executive
Director.
One of the targets of Bogner's insinuations is me. So you are saying
that I must be quiet now? I must allow these false charges to go
unanswered?
I'll state again for the record, I...

chess viewer needed by
thedarkman
I'm looking for a viewer where you can play over games on-line, ie
enter the moves yourself by moving the pieces rather than a .pgn
viewer. I found one sometime ago but can't find it again. I'm sure
there must be dozens of them out there but can't find a site which has
one.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Los Angeles Open Chess Tournament Results by

Yesterday, Sunday, June 3rd, 2007, our chess club hosted a free,
unrated, three-round chess tournament at the Exposition Park Library

The tournament consisted of four quads, with the fourth being
assisted by Christophe Carter, who functioned as the tournament's

Lilienthal still living? by
Taylor Kingston
Can anyone tell me if Andor Lilienthal (born 1911) is still living,
and what is the current state of his health? I believe he is the
oldest yet surviving of the 27 original recipients of the FIDE GM
title in 1950.
