FIDE always wins? by
parrthenon@cs.com
KIRSAN ILYUMZHINOV QUOTED AT CHESSBASE
"All the decisions taken during the match are legally proper, which is
confirmed by the firm of attorneys cooperating with FIDE for more than
ten years since I became a president. They are lawyers of International
Sports Arbitration Court. This is why FIDE always wins in courts -
all our decisions are based on juridical documents, and not...

Fascinating Chess-Mathematical Discovery I Just Made... by
RoyalOui@gmail.com
I just made a fascinating Chess-Mathematical discovery, though the
proof of it would be far too long and abstruse to post here.
So, I'll just float it out there, for what it's worth....
We often see that the Bishop and the Knight are valued at 3 points, if
the Pawn is valued a 1 point. (Of course, such static evaluations are
of limited value, since the "real" value of the pieces depends upon...

What's the combination? by

R Byrne v Bobby Fischer
I can't see the winning combination. What's the winning line after
21... Qd7?
As white, I'd play 22. Qf2. What would you do as black?

FICS: Anyone having trouble logging on?? by
RoyalOui@gmail.com
I wonder if anyone else is having trouble logging on to FICS?
http://www.freechess.org/
I have tried simply accessing the site from home, work, and two public
libraries: I simply get an error screen.
From the FireFox browser, this is what it says:

Now that Topalov has lost to Mamedyarov and Judit Polgar ... by
vintagechessbooks@hotmail.com
So, now that ex-FIDE World Champion Veselin Topalov has lost his first
two games in the tournament at Holland this week, will his manager
Silvio Danailov claim that both of his opponents (Mamedyarov in Round 1
and Judit Polgar in Round 2) were using computer assistance?
Just wondering ;-)

Insolence bring ruin by

Leadership passes into empire;
Empire begets insolence;
Insolence bring ruin.

I would like to comment on two aspect of recent postings by board member Sam

Kalmyjia/Ilymzhinov and Literature by
vkarlamov@yahoo.com
Those who have followed Ilymzhinov's attmepts to make his town of
Elista into Chess City, should know that Ilymzhinov is following the
text of the most famous Russian satire novel Twelve Chairs, written in
the 1920s. In one episode, the main hero, a brilliant swiddler Ostap
Bender, who needs money desperately, pretends to be a chess grandmaster
and gives a paid lecture to the local chess...

Bobby Fischer - my freund!.. by
michael adams
Gruppen,
--I've digested the first installment of the 'tube' show. I feel worse!
clearly Bob is the master of the rusque Spass. but to go to the end is
history. We know Bob destroyed Boris - so what? I'm just peeing in the
sink now, but I see Bob's wearing the same sort of mustard yellow shirt
as me plus (+) a tie. I'm not Bobby by a long shot, he looks good though
over there in Greenland...

To V.KARMALOV.. by

Hi VK..
---I rememeber recently a 12 chair scenario with Vlod Bestrap being the
main contender. I have not got time to write to this Russian satire, but
I want to point out to you that in my young years I read ALL the Russian
authors. I'm also an advocate of Marc Chagall & Wassily Kandinsky, Who
I'm Sure you will realise are strong Russian artists. To me this Thor

Blitzin - detection of expired trial accounts. by
Dave (from the UK)
Now ICC has stopped guests using the server, I want to create a trail
account, then when it expires, create a second one. (I am registered BTW)
But those trial expires after a week or two. Does anyone know how ICC
know how a particular computer has had a trial recently?
I've tried looking for blitzin in the registry on my XP box and note
there are plenty of references to it after the program...
