Why I switched to backgammon. by
monty1945@lycos.com
I've played chess seriously since I was a teenager, but when I
rediscovered backgammon a few years back, I realized that it is the
superior game at present, at least for me. The "luck" factor is
meaningless in the long term, and that is what matters. One does not
need to know all kinds of "technical" information, as one does for high
level chess. Duncan Suttles talked about this in an...

Asian Games: India score easy victory by
OlimpBase
Although the Asian Games date back to 1951, where the premier edition took
place in India, it is only recently when chess was recognized as a
full-right member of the games. There were two individual rapid tournaments
scheduled separately for men and women along with a mixed team tournament
with classical time control. (...)

Nomorechess was correct. by
Sanny
Nomorechess once said me that he is unable to beat Master Level only
because it takes long time.
Now as the time has been improved, Master level always makes moves in
1-3 minute. Nomorechess has beaten Master Level Thrice.
Here are the Recorded games by Nomorechess

I was thinking Nomorechess will be beaten by Master Level but it do...

Susan Polgar has never been involved in scholastic chess by
samsloan
Randy Bauer lied again.
Susan Polgar has never run or organized a scholastic tournament. Susan
Polgar has never taught a regular chess class in a school. Susan Polgar
never even went to school herself.
Susan Polgar has had no involvement with scholastic chess except for a
few publicity appearances for which she was highly paid and a few
recent scholastic tournaments in which she has entered her...

GetClub.com by
help bot
Another bug:
A little while back I had a game in which, upon resuming,
my castled position was half-undone, the Rook reverting to
its original square. I worked around this by moving my
King up, out of the way, and this slowed my attack on the
opposite wing down a bit. Annoying, but no biggie.
Now I am playing a very similar game, a Benoni again,
and the precise same problem has occurred:...

Infinia Chess by
AP
Anyone tried playing on Infinia ?
Is it easy to find 1-minute lightning games there ? I thought of joining but
don't like the idea of installing the client software only to find that it
is yet another site that leaves much to be desired. Is this the case ? Is
Infinia user-friendly ?
Thanks for your feedback.

See the "Changes" page on the site. Especially the entry "A number of
things could be done to improve ChessDB. Would anyone like to volunteer
to do any of the following?".

Blindfold Records by
jeremy.p.spinrad@vanderbilt.edu
I don't mean to knock Soltis, whose articles I enjoy, but I am curious
as to how he gets a sequence of blindfold records as
3,8,10,12,16,22,23,25,29,32,34.
For another list, Fireside Book of Chess gives a bit more
substantiation of its claims:
3 (Philidor)
4,5,7,10,15 (Paulsen)
16 (Blackburne,Zukertort)
17,20,21,22 (Pillsbury

Warning about gothicchess.com by
Me Here
Back in October I placed an order for one of their gothic chess sets. I
paid, but never received it. I sent 4 emails. First said I would get it
soon. Next 3 were ignored and last by me was a request for refund
(ignored).
These are the guys behind the Karpov-Fischer gothic chess match. Think they
will pay the winner?

Who remembers chess pieces like these? by
MaximRecoil
http://tinyurl.com/yny8zh
I learned to play chess with my cousin on a set like that back in '85
(we were 10 years old and the set belonged to our grandmother). A few
months later when I entered the 5th grade, my teacher was also the
chess coach and he had a bunch of sets like that kicking around the
room for kids to play during breaks and such (he had a wooden Drueke
set that we could only use...

After a decent interval.... by

ANOTHER PREDICTION CAME TRUE
When editor Dan Lucas cancelled Evans On Chess he said the reason was
Chess Life no longer needed a question and answer column. Here is a
posting that I placed online last June. Lo and behold, the December
2006 issue of Chess Life has a Q&A column conducted by GM Joel
Benjamin. As I predicted.

I'm ****ed at the bull dyke Marinello by
samsloan
When I was elected to the board, she was kissing my ass to join her
side since she no longer has any supporter on the board. Now she double
crossed me and ****ed me up good. She doesn't want to endorse me for
the next 4 years. What a ****ing bitch! And I thought I could trust a
dyke! Robert Tanner got what he deserves by ****ing this bull dyke at
the national scholastic tournament.
