My friend Don Schultz is running for the board again by
samsloan
I'll do everything I can to help my friend Don Schultz in this
election. He's been my loyal friend for many decades. Anytime I needed
confidential information, Don was always there to provide it for me.
Don and I will be on the same slate along with 2 more people from Leroy
Dubeck team. Please vote for us. We must defeat the Polgar machine.
Thank you.

Buying off Benko by
zdrakec
Hello all:
On page 166 of my copy of "Russians versus Fischer", the authors assert
that "...Fischer would have to miss another world championship cycle,
but to his aid came Benko, who for one and a half thousand dollars
agreed to give him his place in the Interzonal Tournament."
This is the first time I've seen a claim that Benko was "bought off"
for $1,500. Is this substantiated anywhere else,...

Zen and the Art of Crack Cocaine by
kevingentes@gmail.com
I find that smoking opulent amounts of crack cocaine does wonders for
my study of both chess and zen. My chess and my zen are inseperable
parts of the life of: The Kevin, The Great One, Buddha, God, I go by
all three of these names, is dedicated to this way of life that the
non-believers simply refer to as the game of chess.
Ok, so I haven't done much in the chess world lately....other...

Why is Shahade destroying the USCF website? by

Which "old" USCF website are you talking about? The one with the ugly blue
motif that looked like it was cobbled together in an evening by someone
who had just learned HTML? The old USCF website was AWFUL, ugly, a total
disgrace. Spending $25k to redesign it was a bargain. The magazine
re-design...

How can I become a US chess professional ?? by
Zero
I read an article in Chess Life discussed how all the russian players
that immigrated to the US during the 70s and 80s changed tournaments
and how they play chess to make a living.
I think that this sounds really interesting and the benefits are
wonderful. I would just have to play a tournament each weekend with
either a 2-day or 3-day schedule and then I also get Monday through
Thursday off. ...

Sharp Openings by
pinkfloydhomer@gmail.com
I have taken up chess again after several years.
This time, I figured that instead of reading a million books (I own a
lot), I just want to play (on FICS etc.) most of the time.
I also decided that I would play just for the fun of it and that I want
to sharpen my tactics. That means that I would like to play a lot of
(probably unsound) sharp openings, just to force myself into...

Appointment By Grant Perks of Herbert Vaughn as Alternate Delegate for Ohio by
samsloan
To the By-Laws Committee:
Here is the email from Grant Perks to Patricia Knight which was deemed
to be sufficient by Pat Knight to appoint Herbert Vaughn, Bill Brock,
Paul Truong and Jeff Smith as alternate delegates from the State of
Ohio.
I believe that this email was insufficient for this purpose and that
they were not validly appointed for a variety of reasons, including the
fact that the...

Irony of Susan's Complaint by
samsloan
Last year, Susan Polgar complained on her Blog that there were too many
players in the US Championship and that the prizes were too small.
If you search, you can still find her complaints unless she has deleted
them.
Now, by contrast, she has come out against "chess politicians" who
attack "sponsors".
Here is a quote from Susan Polgar's current Blog on the 2007 US

Why does Mike Nolan defend Polgar? by
samsloan
That's a complete fabrication of what happened, Sam.
Don, Beatriz, Tim and I were there on Monday, we all went out to dinner
at a local Italian restaurant. (Al Lawrence was at that dinner, too.)
Paul and Susan didn't get there until some time around noon on Tuesday.

Publishing Chess Games in a blog by
vram1974
I've looked at a couple of Java sites but none seem to be able to
publish an entire game involving all the moves _including_ my own
sidebar commentary. Does anyone have some links they could point me in?
Thanks in advance. My email is fake so please reply here.

Possible Chicago Bid to Hold the 2007 US Championship by

Possible Chicago Bid to Hold the 2007 US Championship
In the first place, I have the contract that was signed in 2000 with
Erik Anderson. It is sitting right here on my desk. The reason I have
it is that I demanded to see it the first thing I did when I got on the
board in August, 2006. They told me that it had been lost but finally
in late-September (after I kept making a big stink about it,...
