The question you hate: opening repertoire for beginner by
Aftermath Fan
I'm a sub-1400 player and am not spending much time studying openings
(I'm working on tactics, as per near-universal advice).
However, I need to have *some* opening repertoire, even if it's only a
few plys deep. It's all well and good to say "play 1. e4!" and I do,
but of course, about 50% of the time I have the black pieces and my
opponent doesn't always cooperate :-)
My overall time to...

World Chess Live by

Is WCL the same as ICC? I notice on their website that ICC owns WCL
and the latter also uses Dasher ... I am assuming they are one and the
same but I don't want to buy membership to find out.

Phil Innes expounds on "Journalism" by
samsloan
Those of us who want to take a break from discussions of serious
topics and just to enjoy a good laugh for a change need go no further
that look at what our "Nearly an IM" Phil Innes says when he calls
himself a "journalist" (at the genius level no less) and expounds on
the subject of "Journalism". Apparently, Innes must feel that anyone
who posts a lot to this group is a "journalist", as he has...

Blackburne-Game from 1894 searched by
Frank Große
Dear Readers,
I'm looking for the following game
Blackburne, Joseph Henry - Von Scheve, Theodor
from the 9th DSB-Kongress in Leipzig, round 7 from the year 1894,
which was won by Blackburne.
The historican Tony Gillam told me the following:

Revised analysis of Mottershead / Jones / Ulevitch reports by
Guy Macon
For the record, here is my analysis. I have some degree
of expertise in this area; I estimate my own skills to
be roughly equal to those of Mottershead, and I estimate
both of us to have skills well below those of Robert
Jones and David Ulevitch, both of whom are well-known
experts.
I would also like to note that when I first posted this
analysis, I invited those who think that Truong...

First Draft, Please Comment: "Invitation to Bridge" by
samsloan
Introduction
Invitation to Bridge is a basic beginners book. It is suitable even
for someone who has never previously seen a deck of cards. It was
first published in 1950.
It is important to remember that Bridge was a relatively young game in
1950. Contract Bridge was first popularized in 1925. The First Bermuda
Bowl, which is the term for World Team Championships, was held in
1950, the same...

Searching for game continuations. by
Paul Stivers[_2_]
Is there a good way to search on the internet for game continuations
from a certain position? Ideally played out by GMs, but I'd look at
anything :)
Some way to search by continuation from a FEN or from a PGN move
sequence?
I've seen occasionally where someone will reference one or more games,
from chessgames.com for example, that were won from a certain position,
and I've wondered how...

How about a Baby Level at GetClub? by
Sanny
Now since I find many players are unable to win the Beginner Level I
am thinking to introduce a Baby Level which will play in just 2
seconds, And will play even weaker moves than Beginner Level.
As I find many people are unable to beat the Beginner Level.
What other modification you want. Are you still not satisfied with
GetClub Chess?
Do you want me to include Correspondence Game where...
