I'm a newbie. Is babaschess a good browser for the FICS?
Or are there better ones?
Thx,

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR IS BACK
"Since this material is more honest and interesting than
anything in Chess Life, it's inconceivable they would
pay for it and not use it." -- jr
Although the new editor made a horrendous error of judgment
by caving into the political class and purging Evans On Chess,
he nonetheless deserves high marks for getting Chess Life out
on time and restoring letters to the...

Vote Counters Honest by
parrthenon@cs.com
RESERVOIR OF DECENCY
So, then, those USCFers who counted the votes --
many of whom likely supported candidates other than
Sam Sloan -- nonetheless issued a ballot tally
electing Sam to the Executive Board.
One good thing to come out of this election --
besides the election of Sam and, possibly the
elevation of Randy Hough to a leadership position in

Paul Truong is the Fake Sam Sloan by
mikeNOSPAM@theopenfile.com
Sam,
For someone who has argued before the US Supreme Court, you should know
better. You have absolutely no evidence that Paul is the "Faker". All
you have is innuendo and feeble circumstancial "evidence".
Give it up. Why should you care who impersonates you on this or any
other forum? You are on the USCF BOD. You should be paying attention
to the woes of the USCF, not your own petty ego.

Los Angeles Open Chess Tournament by
expochess07@yahoo.com
This is a Summons to Chess Tourney!
Are you an utterly obsequious coward? We, the partisans, paladins,
and protagonists of the Exposition Park Chess Club very greatly desire
the attendance of brave chess players.
This coming first Sunday of the month, Aug. 6th, will be the
occasion of a free, unrated, three-round chess tournament. Cash prizes
will *NOT* be awarded, but the names of the...

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Dear Sam,
Joel Channing's two Internet postings of July 21
and 31 provide a fair idea of what you can expect as
a member of the Executive Board. There will be
condescension and hostility politically administered
via such standard ploys as Good Cop-Bad Cop and
Ostracism.

What is the best server for 2-2.5 hour with least computer cheating? by
vibi.chess@gmail.com
Hi everyone,
I am trying to figure out which is the best chess server if one wants
to play a 2-2.5 hour game with the least amount of computer cheating.
For one thing it is hard to get a 60 0 or 70 5 game but on top of that,
I think there are a lot of players who whip up their computers once
they are in a losing position.
Which chess server do you guys think is the best in really nailing

Taylor Kingston on Genna Sosonko's new book by
Lev Khariton
Possibly, in his new book Genna Sosonko is not at his best, but
undoubtedly in his review of Sosonko's book Taylor Kingston is at his
weakest. (See www.chesscafe.com)
I was surprised, for example, that Kingston, before penning up this
review, had not taken the trouble to find out that Yakov Neischdat is
not only a coach and a chess editor, as Taylor claims, but is primarily
a prolific chess...
