Aronian's Height by
Ian Burton
I was watching the Aronian game on the ICC yesterday when a kibitzer noted
that Aronian was only 137 cm tall (about 5'4"). Is this true?
Just curious.

Kramnik's Olympiad Record by
Ian Burton
Has he ever lost an Olympiad game? He was on the brink today against
Kamsky, but Kamsky failed to come up with the best moves, and Kramnik's
great endgame strength earned him a draw.

Sanny
Now the Game plays what it was intended for. It plays TWICE FASTER and
TWICE BETTER MOVES.
That is what was needed for getting a decent Chess Playing game.
Play Chess at: http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html
I played with Beginner level and the game was finished in 20 minutes
while the Game was much improved due to Opening and new modifications.

Olympiad Round 11: USA 2.5, Russia 1.5 by
Larry Tapper
A remarkable result --- Nakamura beat Grischuk and the rest of the
games were drawn.
Is this the first time the US team has beaten Russia?
Meanwhile, the Armenian team widened their lead with a 3-1 victory.
By the way, the official site for results (according to TWIC) and in
any event, a very good one, is:

Errata for Nick de Firmian book by
Bob Kline
Anyone know of an online source for errata for de Firmian's "Chess
Openings the Easy Way"? There's an opening on page 58 in which he has
white trying to castle short while his king's knight is still at home,
and I'm curious to know what he really meant there.
Or an electronic means of getting in touch with the author? I've found
a few other mistakes and I wouldn't mind passing them along...

Developing our next generation via Scholastics by
Rob
Scholastics poses a substantial challenge. It is a cash cow. The
difficulity seems to be in the lack of "junior" players who are held to
be the cream of the crop of young players. Personally, whether they are
called scholastic or juniors doesn't matter. If we are serious about
growing the ranks of adult players, we have to establish a program to :
1. locate talented young players

Peter Szekely by
Alan OBrien
About a year ago I wondered if anyone knew anything about the death - in
2003 - of GM Peter Szekely at the age of 48.
I just wondered if anything had been learned since.

D-Day Today in Turin, Italy by
Sam Sloan
D-Day Today in Turin, Italy
Today is the day the vote will be taken to determine the President of
FIDE for the next four years.
I am scared and concerned. The re-election of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov as
FIDE President would be a catastrophe of un-imaginable proportions.
For one thing, there is the very real possibility that if Ilyumzhinov
is re-elected, all of the countries supporting Kok will simply...

Pawn to King 4 by
Yau-ming
Hi,
I've been playing chess off and on for the last 30 years- don't really get
much of a chance to play. Most of my friends are into X-boxs or computer
games.
My favourite opening is the old pawn to king 4. Recently I've met another
player who (as white)does pawn to queen 4. I usually counter that with pawn
to king bishop 4. or just pawn to king 3- followed by a development of the
queen's...

Goodness! Mike Nolan is in Turin!

As long as you are in Turin, why don't you volunteer to be the FIDE

See how far that that gets.

Should Bill Hall be fired over the latest Beatriz Marinello affair? by
Sam Sloan
Should Bill Hall be fired over the latest Beatriz Marinello affair?
It has come out in the last 48 hours that USCF Executive Director Bill
Hall paid money to Board Member-at-Large Beatriz Marinello to attend
the coming FIDE Congress in Turin, Italy. Beatriz herself let this
slip out in an Internet posting on Monday, May 22, 2006, when she
wrote:

Hugh Myers did it!
There is a person who keeps attacking me, every day, day after day, in

of Mr Louis Blair... by
parrthenon@cs.com
LOOK WHO'S TALKING!
If Cerebus will carefully examine the newsgroup record
via Google or some such search engine, he will find that
Blair asks "the same questions again and again" only when
the person asked gives no satifactory answer, or no answer
at all. Notorious repeat offenders would be Parr and Innes, who
virtually never answer "inconvenient" questions. -- Taylor Kingston
