Should convicted felons be allowed to run for the EB? by
London Chess
Sam Sloan is a known convicted felon. He admitted to having sex with
minors. He's also admitted to commit fraud and had his securities
license revoked. He's a menace to chess in America. He's probably the
biggest chess bum on this planet. Should this bloke be allowed to run
for the EB?

Szymon Winawer, the James Bond of chess by
Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (Wlod)
This game somehow stays with me:
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1132735
It also makes me think about Morphy.
Morphy's games feel even more artistic,
more natural, certainly simpler (with one
notable exception though). On the other
hand he played much earlier, and he didn't
play Steinitz, and at Steinitz's best --

Should Sam Sloan be kicked out of the USCF? by
wolfgangchess@yahoo.de
He lies everyday. He insults people everyday. He's being a pest
everyday. He writes craps on wikipedia. He's a convicted felon. He
molested young children. He's an unfit father. He's an unfit husband.
He cheated against Bill Brock. He's an embarrassment to the USCF.
Should he be kicked out of the USCF?

chessmen are equations... by
tdiedwards
...aren't they?
has anyone worked out how to express chessmen as equations? i might try to do it myself as a project, but i don't have enough formal training in maths to do it in a very meaningful way and it will take me ages. i would probably be trying to reinvent the wheel too?
if anyone knows if thes equations have already been expressed (even if in a fairly simplified way) i'd be very...

GM Browne at the World Series of Poker by
Larry Tapper
I see Walter Browne is currently 12th in the chip count at the HORSE
event:
http://news.pokerpages.com/index.php?option=com_simpleblog&task=view&id=1426
This is an especially interesting event because it has an unusually
high buy-in (50K) and has attracted many of the top pros.

Chess Life Online by

The USCF website now includes two news sites, "Chess Life" and "Chess

"Chess Life Online" is really an entirely new on-line magazine. It has
the sort of things you have come to expect from on-line chess news,
e.g. articles about tournaments, with games to play...

Yes. That seems like a great idea, especially since I received an email
