"we need to drive away the people who has been milking the USCF for many years." by
Sam Sloan
One of the classic postings by Beatriz Marinello was in my own email
group. Here is what she wrote on August 22, 2004:
"I am not afraid of the challenges, since August our Board
has been demonstrating a hands-on approach, but we need help.
Therefore, we recognize the importance of engaging new leaders, doers
and ideas. But also we need to drive away the people who has been
milking the USCF...

I will not take a penny by
Sam Sloan
If I'm elected, I promise not to take a penny from the USCF. I'll pay
everything from my own pocket. I won't even take a free lunch from my
friend Don Schultz and Frank Brady.
Vote for me and I'll provide all male members over 11 with free viagra!
Read me lips! Free viagra to please all the mamas out there!

Time to forget about FIDE+USCF+... by
Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (Wlod)
A lot of bytes are wasted on the discussion
about the USCF+CL versus GM Larry Evans.
Such discussions are futile, aimless and illogical.
Sure, the top USCF bureaucrats will always
put their own stinky political interest ahead
of the needs of the USCF membership,
ahead of the interest of the US chess
playing public, ahead of the iointeresty of CL.
My whole sympathy is with GM Larry Evans,

Public chess game needs input by
mm
There is a fellow named Ze Frank who has begun a public chess game with
his online viewers.
About Ze: He's very creative, clever and quite funny (he actually has a
neuroscience degree from Brown, but presents himself as a sort of "Gen
X" scruff). His website is www.zefrank.com and every weekday at
www.zefrank.com/theshow he posts a short video of whatever he feels
like... he comments on the...

Anyone notice on ebay? by
EZoto
Somebody from Mahwah NJ is selling some very rare chess books. What a
library this guy must have had. No relation to the seller but the
books he is selling are like looking in a museum. some of them are 70
years old showing pictures of players like Lasker, Capa etc etc.
Definitely a chess time capsule.

Requesting Examption for Senior Open by
jeremy.p.spinrad@vanderbilt.edu
The senior open will be played in Nashville at the end of August.
Although I am 3 weeks too young to qualify, I request a special
exemption for the event. I have two teenage daughters, and one is
learning to drive. I can assure you that this experience is worth at
least 3 weeks in the aging process.
In addition, I am willing to submit a medical form testifying to my
unhealthy life, and can get...

Lasker's time troble game 5 1921 by
Alan OBrien
In game 5 of the 1921 Lasker - Capablanca match in Havana,
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1241495 Capablanca commented
after black's (Lasker's) last move, "It will be noticed that it was Dr.
Lasker's forty-fifth move. He had very little time to think..."
This does not make any sense. The times for this game, as given twice in
Capablanca's book on the match we Capablanca...

Chess game improved further with double pawns by
Sanny
Now the game will prevent double pawn formation. I hope it will give a
better game.
Play Chess at: http://www.softtanks.com/chessgame/Chess.html
1. I feel the Opening is complete as it memorizes opening moves.
2. Now it plays Middle Game quite better. and understands basic rules
of Middle Game.

Best PDA/phone for ICC/Playchess in bed. by
Anon Poster
I have this vision of me lying in bed playing chess on ICC via a PDA
application. (sad, I know).
I have ADSL and I wi-fi (802.11) router giving wireless internet access
throughout my house.
Does anyone have a phone/PDA to recommend for this, taking into
consideration what ICC client software is available?
Thanks.
