I want to start practicing Blitz 5+0 but I heard that playing blitz
usually degrade your rapid and slow skills. Any opinions?

A successful WCN Championship in January by
Madawaska
Congratulations to Zatonskih Vitaliy (Ukraine-2380) who won the January
WCN championship with a perfect score. Bindi Cheng (Canada-2558)
finished second with 4.5/.5
102 players had registered for this first championship and our prizes
were doubled because the participation was over 100.
So far, I finished 17th but I will try to progress in the next WCN
championship (February). What will be your...

Cunning Chess Players Win!
Are you hopelessly straightforward and trustful? We, the subtle,
convoluted, and bold players of the Exposition Park Chess Club

wily chess players.
This coming first Sunday of the month, Feb. 5th, will be the
occasion of a free, unrated, open, three-round chess tournament. Cash
prizes will *NOT* be...

For those who continue to insist that Eric Schiller's books are
always panned at chesscafe.com and never offered by USCF Sales, some

Averbakh and Jules Welling and Curacao 1962 by
Claus van de Vlierd
Hello ,
a) on Tim Krabbes'S Web-Site I just read that in the autumn of 2005
GM J. Averbakh had given an interview to the Dutch
chess writer Jules Welling in which he (J. A.) seems to have stated
that the victory of Tigran Petrosian at the Candidates Tournament
"Curacao 1962" had been "politically predetermined"
(of course without giving any evidence / source etc. -- only the
usual allegations...

Tarrasch rule by
Artificer
Tarrasch stated the "rule" that rooks should be placed behind passed
pawns - either yours or your opponent's. This "rule" is usually true,
but not always.
I wonder where I can find a list of those so called rules (I personally
think they are systems or recommendations) because on most chess books
you can find one or another but never all of them and especially they
don't appear as a chapter on...
