Ray Doyle Satterlee died on Friday, August 12, 2005, at Alexian Hospice, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, after a relatively short illness. Ray won one U.S. Senior Open title and tied for first on two other occasions, losing the title on tiebreaks. I was studying Petrosian and Karpov's record against each other, since they are both similar players, and this is what I found: +1 = 12 - 1 Completely even against each other, they were well matched players. I wonder if a younger Petrosian would have the better of his stylistic successor. Having said that, Petrosian was still in form even in his late-forties.
