Grudge match -- use the Net by
parrthenon@cs.com
HATE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND
Yes, a match by Net with an arbiter at each end is a reasonable way
to play this match, and Chesstours cannot be criticized for
conditioning its support on such an arrangement.
But there is another side, which is Bill Brock's side.
Mr. Brock has told us that he has seen an analyst over "anger
management" issues, which he expresses in such an antiseptic locution

The pleasures of chess.... by
John J.
As some of you may already know, I have returned to the chess scene after an
18 year absence. Sure, during those 18 years I would occasionally go through
a published game from a magazine. More likely than not I would use a cheap
magnetic chess set to look at a game.
Well tonight, for the first time in two decades, I broke out my very nice 50
year old wood chess pieces and proceeded to go through...

Grudge match: Sloan vs. Kingston or Sloan vs. Bauer. by
Taylor Kingston
"As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly."
Proverbs 11.
Sam Sloan wrote:
This entire thread started when Taylor Kingston claimed to be a 2300+
Elo rasted player. Kingston made numerous insulting remarks and
personal attacks on Grandmaster Larry Evans among others.
I thereupon challenged Taylor Kingston to a chess match for one
thousand dollars cash money....

Am I hopeless? Is it to late for me, age wise? by

Are the GM born with the chess talent like a great musician is born with a

Polish Chess Federation by
Nevrati Souvlaki
Does anyone have any news about the Polish Chess Federation? I know Sam
asked me for $500. to start it up, but I have not seen anything since then.
I am not getting the magazine either. When will my subscription kick in?

Why does Taylor Kingston always like to lie? by
Sam Sloan
Why does Taylor Kingston always like to lie?
I used to have great respect for Taylor Kingston and I told him so on
the one occasion that we met. Although I often disagreed with him, I
found his submissions well researched and well written and worth
reading.
Then, about one month ago, for no reason at all that I am aware of,
Taylor Kingston started attacking me several times every day.

Predictions on the Brock-Sloan Match by
Nick
As far as I know (I don't read everything in RGC*),
Bill Brock and Sam Sloan have agreed to play a match
of four games under the condition that Sam Sloan needs
to score only two points (not 2.5) to win the match.
According to the USCF ratings database, William H Brock
is rated 2042 USCF and Sam Sloan is rated 1931 USCF.
So what's the 'expected value' for Sam Sloan (who's
rated 111 points under...

I am OFFICIALLY declaring war on age bias in chess! by
Ray Gordon
While I will not give my exact refutation of the "age myth" in chess on this
forum (or even on my free website), I will say that the issue can now be
officially declared nonexistent, and that age bias in chess should be
eradicated. We should no longer dismiss our older players as being
incapable of improvement, because they are among our best resources for
current and future international...

almasi vs sutovsky is a very interesting sicilian with piece sacrifice on b5
and countersacrifice on c6 with the upshot that black sacrificed a pawn for
a massive pawn centre. black even offered one of those centre pawns to get
the avalance in the centre rolling, but white just declined. black has, i
believe, a tiny bit more than enough compensation for the pawn.

America is TOO CHEAP to produce a world chess championship by
Ray Gordon
It's true. Most wouldn't even bother training for it without some type of
funding, but since I forge ahead without it, let me say it again:
If ALL of my training is not paid for along the way, and I wind up in a
position to play for *any* world championship in chess, I will refuse to
play the match, and will also refuse any attempts to pay me at that point.
I post this because I want to take...

Classic Collections of Chess Pieces in USA by
Chess One
Can anyone advise me of the best collections of chess pieces in the USA?
I would be particularly interested in Collections In LA and NY City. In an
older encyclopedia it stated the best collection was in Philly - unknown if
that is still the case, or if collection is sold, dispersed or in museum
now. I'd like to get these pieces onto a TV show.
Any help appreciated.
Cordially, Phil Innes
