Adams vs. Hydra by Eamon
What are your predictions for Adams vs. Hydra? http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/hydrapress.html 6 games in 7 days favours the untiring beast. And the way Adams has failed to convert promising positions recently makes it less likely that he will become the first human to beat it. I say +4 -0 =2 to Hydra.

25 pictures of Sarajevo taken during the beginning of the turnament. The five last ones concern specifically the game of Chess. http://www.jmrw.com/Abroad/Balkans/Sarajevo/index.htm -- http://www.jmrw.com/ J'ai découvert que tout le malheur des hommes vient d'une seule chose, qui est de ne savoir pas demeurer en repos dans une chambre. Books or web material on chess typography? by Anders Thulin
I'm trying to find any material on the problems of chess typography, particularly setting of game scores. Does anyone know any material? I've been looking around the web, but there seem to be no good fits, and what material I do find is mainly on minor practical points related to particular typefaces. What I'm after is something more 'high-level' -- a Chess Publishers' Handbook, or something of...

Training Software. by John J.
I highly recommend 'Chess Position Trainer' !! It's a fairly new program and it's slicker than snot! I've been discovering its features tonight and have been amazed at what it can do. Oh, one more thing. It's FREE !!!!! Yep, you heard right. It's FREE!!! You don't have to troll the Internet for any 'cracks' or bootleg copies.... It's also an excellent tool to study tactics..

PartyPoker offer by Punker
This is an offer from an affiliate of an online poker site, and not a good one. Basically, the affiliate gets paid for every new player they sign up, and a lot more than this guy is offering. If you are interested and playing, and want to find a good affiliate, visit http://www.twoplustwo.com and click on the Internet forum. I have no recommendations, but I can say that what this guy is offering...

Stalking the Wild Averbakh with Phil Innes by Taylor Kingston
On this newsgroup, a recent issue between Phil Innes and myself, Taylor Kingston, has been Innes' claim that GM Yuri Averbakh (born 1922, Kaluga, USSR) was a member of the Soviet state security organ known as the KGB. I have asked Innes, several times, for evidence supporting this claim. Innes has at times hinted that such evidence exists but he was not ready to present it. On at least one other...

Tyson on Fischer by Mike Murray
From the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/03/sports/03schaap.html?oref=login Soon after the Reykjavik contretemps, Schaap was at a news conference promoting Mike Tyson's June 11 fight against Kevin McBride. Tyson asked him what he had been doing in Iceland. Tracking another former world champion, Schaap told him. "Bobby Fischer," Tyson said. "That guy's crazy!"

Tactics study is improving my endgame (I think) by rchewning1@yahoo.com
I begam studying tactics in earnest recently, after trying to do the same about a year and a half ago. I gave up before out of frustration that was, frankly speaking, due to the fact that I didn't try very hard to improve my tactics. Half hearted study, etc. I also had been going through some of Pandolphini's endgame course, and found some of the positions kind of hard to do. What a difference...

Opening for black by SKyWalker
Hi, I am thinking about ditching Sicilian as i need to swim deep into theory for that. I wnat something with less theory. I am considering Petroff. I do not have an official rating as i have not yet played a FIDE rated game, but have won some local tournaments. I have played around 180 games with CM 10K and my rating in it is around 2170 - which probably would translate to 1700 or so in real...
