Why can't they leave Bobby Fischer alone?! by
SW
Now the USA wants to get him for income tax evasion! Obviously BF is
mentally ill and needs tender, compassionate care NOT a bunch of
assholes who want to grind him into the ground without no thought as
to why he does the things he does AND what he says. He definitely has
some kind of Bipolar - Schizo disorder. You look at his life from a
boy up and you put this in the back burner and you can see...

Chessmaster 10K on line server by
drawkcab
Does anyone here know if ubisoft is ever going to correct the rating
mistakes on their server. CM10K is starting to turn into a real piece
or crap fast. Their service leaves alot to be desired.

The New Look Chesschamps
Regular observers of this website may have noticed a recent change of style
on the front page. Chesschamps is now being run by the London Chess Center
and consequently I have relinquished control of the site to them. Instead of
being webmaster I will continue in a more limited capacity as a contributor,

How to improve Board Vision by
Sathya Sivam
I'm a adult beginner. I can't visualize one quarter of the chess board, I
want to improve.
Is there a structured way to improve board vision? How does one train for
blindfold chess?

Best use of chess puzzles for a begginer by
hito_of_ff@hotmail.com
I am trying to improve my chess. Currently my rating is around 900. I
am trying to improve my tactics by using puzzles. My question is: what
is the best use of puzzles for a beginner? Should I just stare at the
puzzle, working it out in my head until I see the answer or should I
actually move the pieces on the the board and solve them one step at a
time?
Using the figure it in my head...

Japan govt and BBC show contempt for Fischer's stateless status by
banana
Before reading this article, be aware that the BBC works closely with
both SIS (MI6) and the US CIA's Foreign Broadcast Information Service.
But also be aware that many of the BBC's journalists are as thick as two
short planks, and crap at 'research'.
There is absolutely no recognition in this article that the Icelandic
government recognises Bobby Fischer's status as *stateless*.
The US...

a complaint about the mindless pseudo-humans during chess games by
msadkins04@yahoo.com
I'm really getting sick of constant, non-chess related verbal attacks
in the background during chess play. These are a pernicious influence
and distract from play, and do not contribute to the building of skill
(quite the contrary).
I am not interested in the pseudo-opinions of morons. They would not
be of value even if the comments were dead-on accurate, because they
distract and cause...

Olympic Heroes: Garry Kasparov by
OlimpBase
(...)
Garry Kasparov took part in eight Olympiads starting from Malta 1980 with a
gap of 22 years between first and last Olympic game. He represented Soviet
Union and Russia four times both and all of his appearances, six of them at
board one, gave his team the overall win. Apart from that he won 11
individual medals, including 7 gold. In 1986 and 1988 Kasparov hit the
jackpot with a pack of...

Let's hear it for Karpov too! (Greatest ever list) by
raylopez99
It takes two to tango. If Kasparov is the greatest ever, as widely
believed, then Karpov must have also been good to draw him and play so
close (see the excellent Seiriwan book "Five Crowns").
Best ever:
1. Kasparov
2. Fischer
3. Capablanca
