Lev Khariton: Chess Editor's Anti-Chess by
SveLeo@aol.com
Chess Editor's Anti-Chess
By Lev Khariton
Although being sometimes unnecessarily voluble, this time I have really
to keep mum.But I can't!
Just look at these words I found in the September, 2004 issue
of"Chess Life", the US leading chess magazine for decades:
"Fischer must be brought back to the center of American life. He must

TSIC This Second in Chess by
PeteCasso
Adams v Leko draw in 18: Hit them hard with your big stick Senor Rentero!
Anand v Topalov: Black could not really equalize in a Najdorf Sicilian and
White is now a pawn up in a 2R+B v 2R+K endgame, but Black has the
initiative for the pawn, extremely interesting endgame!
Kasparov won the exchange for a pawn, but Kasimdzhanov is going for a move
repetition right now at move 28, use your...

TSIC This Second in Chess on Linares Round 6 by
PeteCasso
Kaparov and Adams blitzed to an endgame at move 20, can't even guess from
the position what the opening was, will figure out later, but anyway, both
castled long and Kasparov is about to win a pawn in a Q+R ending, but where
Adams has a lead in development (Rook is out) and hence the initiative. But
Kasparove may be able to convert nevertheless! Go, K, go!
Anand with Black is being squeezed by...

TSIC This Second in Chess on FIDE's Ultimatum by
PeteCasso
Today is the deadline of FIDE's ultimatum on unification, if Kasparov does
not participate in unification, then somebody else will play.
I guess Kirsan goes by a marriage custom in Kalmykia, if the bride or groom
does not show up on wedding day, then she or he simply gets replaced by
somebody else.

Morphy Number One by
R.Piyo
This list of players with Morphy 1 is based on all his known games
(See Tim Krabbe's page:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~timkr/ChessTutor/morphy.htm ) and the index of
opponents at http://batgirl.atspace.com/contenders.html. Both sources
make an extensive use of Philip Sergeant's book "Morphy's Games of
Chess" (1916, 1930).

SUSAN POLGAR -- a wonderful grandmaster and person by
Wlodzimierz Holsztynski (wlod)
I just can't stand the horrible threads
about one of so few true chess heros.
And the idiots who badmouth GM. S.P.
are beneath contempt.
All chess enthusiast know about the
sport achievements and so needed
chess activities of GM Susan Polgar.
Her place in chess history is well
established. I don't even need to

Desperate Times at US Chess Live by
Gunsberg
Not a surprise. Chess Live failed to get critical mass, and is dying
on the vine. Really, the chess server niche is rather small, and ICC
has become the Wal-Mart that monopolizes business.
I won't be sad to see Chess Live fold, if it does. From accounts
that I've read, it exploited both the USCF membership, AND the USCF
itself.
Players may join up with chess servers that compete with ICC,...

Chessbase light - can't add more than 136 Games?? by
Terri and Rob
Hi.. hopefully this hasn't been answered already.. I didn't see it when
searching for chessbase light., so here goes.
Obviously using chessbase light.. I read its supposed to store up to
8000 games into a database. I have a database created, but its at 136
Games, and it won't let me add anymore? On the bottom status bar it says
15360KB 99%. When I try to enter another game, I can't even cut...

Will Anand ever be #1? by
g_chime@yahoo.com
It seems that his only chance is NOW;
Kasparov is slowly declining and
Leko is steadily improving.
Anand might become #1 for a short time in between those two.
