In a drawish position Svidler's King moved to the centre, simply giving
Kramnik a nice and unexpected piece for a useless two pawns. Svidler must
have seen fictitious hens in the year of the rooster.

Lev Khariton: Grandmasters 'Honoris Causa' by
SveLeo@aol.com
January 5th, 2005
Many sites announced the sad news of Arnold Denker's death. Among them
was the editor of Week in Chess Mark Crowther. As is well known, in the
80-s a group of old strong chess players who had had great achievements
in the past, were awarded the grandmaster's title. However, I did not
agree with Mark Crowther's arguable remark that... Well, this is our
correspondence two days...

Looking to buy Franklin Mint Waterloo chess piece... by
Condor
Greetings all...
I recently purchased a Battle of Waterloo chess set (Franklin Mint
release c. 1984), and discovered that it has a duplicate pawn, as well
as one pawn with an incorrect base. So, I'm trying to source a "Line
Infantry Pawn" (blue base) from this set, if anyone might have one to
sell. I figure I can use the base from the duplicate pawn to fix the
one with the incorrect base, but...

All I want to do, ever, is just play Chess by
Chess One
I work as a biology
teacher in an elementary school, and lead chess activities in it.
Our school was damaged. Everybody want to forget those terrible days.
At the time of the bombardment I was writing with a Serbian journalist, and
she pointed to one picture in particular, it was the head of a cow which had
landed on the steps of a church.
She didn't care to argue for either side's actions...

Tax treatment of chess winnings by
TR
My son just won his first reportable chess prize ($1,200)and I was
trying to advise him on the (US) tax implications. I assume that he'll
receive a 1099 showing the winnings and they'll be reportable as either
misc. earnings on his 1040 or on Form C. On the Form C, he should be
able to show chess-related expenses (e.g., entry fees, books, software,
travel to tournaments) offsetting the income,...

honest inquiry by
Doublelifter
I will make this short and sweet. I am a student of two other hobbies,

like to begin a private study of chess.
What two or three books and/or computer programs would you recommend to someone
who has played chess for decades, but never studied it, but has a studying type
of mind when interested?
I am looking for a...

Searching for Win Moe by

All of you people have been making fun of Win Moe, but I will have you
know that Win Moe is now the 9th rated woman chess player in America.
Take a look at

Must have had a sex change operation since the last time I saw Win
Moe, however.
