I note that the rules of Chess in Europe from the year 1813 can now be viewed online: http://sbchess.sinfree.net/EI_index.html I find it quite interesting to note the small differences between the rules in 1813 and today (for example, a stalemate was a LOSS to the one stalemating!! I won't mention any others, so that you can sift through them and discover them for yourself.)
