Chess News on Fox Channel 5 News Tonight at 10 by Sam Sloan
I just saw the announcement on Channel 5. The lead story on the 10 o'clock news tonight will be that the Morrow High School in Brooklyn won the natinal high school championship where 1200 kids competed and they were greeted by the President. If you live in New York City, be sure to turn on the Channel 5 News tonight at 10 PM. It could be an important story for us teachers of chess. Sam Sloan

Rook + Bishop versus Rook + Knight .. by Claus van de Vlierd
Hello , a) in "Winning Endgame Strategy" by Beliavsky and Mikalchishin ; Batsford 2000 , you find on page 141 a statement that GM Shveshnikov belongs to the small group of GM's that regard the combination "R + N" as stronger than "R + B" . My 60 Memorable Games by Cheree
Looking for a copy of My 60 Memorable Games. My son has asked for a copy of this book for Christmas. I understand it is out of print and I have been searching on the Internet. I'm unsure what edition, but maybe the 1969 edition? I know he does not want the Bratsford(sp?) edition. Thanks for any help! Cheree

The Beatriz and Judy Show by Sam Sloan
The main issue is to keep Beatriz from having her hands on the money. If Beatriz and Judy are co-Acting Executive Directors of the USCF, does Beatriz get to fire Judy or can Judy fire Beatriz? Who gets to sign the checks? For sure, this situation will not last long. It will be the Beatriz and Judy Show. Sam Sloan

Why was the WCC held every 3 years ?? by Mike B
That seems like a long time to me.... Is it because they had so many elmination Matches to find out who will play the Champion. I think two years would have been better....

Open Letter to USCF Board by Parrthenon
Gentlemen and Gentleladies, You have voted to move the headquarters of the U. S. Chess Federation to Crossville, a small town in Tennessee. If you have the funds, you will be putting up a headquarters building next to a gas company. If not, you may have a prolonged stay in an old church or, mayhaps, in a warehouse. You will be hoping to procure adequately trained labor in the vicinity. If...

Does anybody like the new Google Groups format? Google has just introduced a new format.
