(OT) Malaysian Interlude by

Over the years, I have given you some of the big reasons why I like living
over in Malaysia. The kids can go to a good British curriculum international
school with a demanding course of study in history and languages; the kids
don't have to put up with condom instruction with bananas beginning in second
grade; the kids are almost totally ignorant of American popcult; the wife loves
her "social...

Are A Lot Of Chess Players Kooks? by
Florida Chess
I heard a story of a player who got upset during a game and tossed his
chair accross the room but he was not kicked out or banned because it
turned out the fellow had forgotten his psychiatric medication that
morning and it was the man's psychiatrist who had recommended chess as
a way to calm and sooth the mans explosive anger. Presumably he was
allowed to play after he had "taken his...

PGN format question by
miguel
Hi,
I'm typing some games from a book I'm reading and came up with
something I couldn't figure out how to represent in PGN.
The game ends with the resignation of the black player, and then the
author analyzes a variation of what could have happened if the player
hadn't resigned. So how do you enter this post-resignation variation
in a PGN file?

Kin boosts Fischer's bid to gain German passport
Bobby Fischer's brother-in-law says he has assembled the documents
needed to prove the fugitive chess champion is entitled to German
citizenship and should not be deported from Japan to the United States
to face multiple legal charges.

A surprisingly lopsided match that Hydra won 5.5 - 2.5. Some of the games
are a bit mysterious, but interesting:

Embezzlement of Cal Chess Funds : Richard Peterson by
Bryan Allen
So what happens when you put a lying miscreant as a treasurer of a
State Chess orginization?
Check out Cal Chess now. "Take the money and Run" Peterson, who has
been involved in multiple squirmishes with the USCF ended up treasurer
of Cal Chess, the Northern California Chess affiliate. How is
Peterson, a southern california resident, even able to be on a
Northern California board? And why does...

Chessmaster fuzzy font on menu bar by
Sam
I've just started running the new Chessmaster 10th Ed. and noticed that the
font for the menu bar is very fuzzy.
The rest of the program seems to work fine and is very clear.
I don't have a similar problem with any other program.
Any one have any idea what the problem is and how I might fix it?
Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Chessmaster won't run says "CD/DVD emulation sofware" What's that? by
Sam
I've just installed Chessmaster 10th Ed. and now that I try to use it says
it won't run because my computer has "CD/DVD emulation software installed"
and that I have to deactivate it.
Does anyone know what that means and how I get Chessmaster to work?
Thanks

'Japan to deport Bobby Fischer' (BBC) by

..
This Gunsberg fellow seems to have overlooked the obvious: it makes no
difference whether some Jews happenned to control a parcel of land prior to
some Palestinians.
Let's go back one more step: who exactly, controlled this very same land just
prior to the Jews? Assumming they are not eradicated as a nation and/or race,
then how is it that the Jews have any claim to "their" land? If they...

The website www.logicalchess.com offers quite a bit of nonsense. On one
page alone, I found:
*Weinstein, Norman (1950- )
Killed an 83-year old man in a nursing home - the first murder by a master.
He is serving a life sentence.
It wasn't Norman Weinstein, it was Raymond Weinstein.
