I was just thinking, maybe this would be a good time for Bobby to
challenge someone to a chess match.

Was America's Greatest Chess Genius the Greatest Player of All Time? by
Brandon
It's amazing: when you look at lists of the world's best chessplayers,
American players are rarely found near the top. I suppose it's
because we've never been much of a chessplaying nation.
YET, when you look at the two truly great players the US has produced,
they have had a PROFOUND effect on the game! One of them is generally
believed to have revolutionized it.
This American chessplayer...

Inforches by
Enzo
Hello
For anybody who can read Spanish, easy in a specialized vocabulary, I
attract attention on Inforchess Publications,
I enjoy everytime since 3 years but I think that, as in France, they are not
known in USA, Germany, England, Nederland, Nordic Countries, Italy... for
instance.
Chessbase is interesting but we need diversity and Hispanic Chess World is
fine and misunderstood.
They...

'Zsoyd' by
Alan OBrien
I read this today:
"ChessWorld.net is currently hosting 'Rest of the World' matches against GM
Thaler, IM Basman, and 'Zsoyd' - an anonymous player who has not yet lost a
single game and has broken all Chessworld.net highest rating records."
Who is Zsoyd?

Expected FIDE Rating Update for October by
PeteCasso
Kasparov is expected to slide down 4 points from his current 2817.
Surprisingly, Anand with his excellent tournament results in the past couple
of months is expected to slide down 0.4 points from his current 2782. What
happened here? Does FIDE not have his recent tournament results?
No expected ratings changes were posted for Kramnik and Morozevich. Some
observers seem to believe that Kramnik...

Playboy Magazine vs. Chess Life by
Sam Sloan
As long as we are on this subject, it seems to me that if Playboy
Magazine published an article entitled "Girls of Chess", with lots of
photographs of naked female chess grandmasters (for which they would
be well paid), we would all like to see it and nobody would be upset.
Such an article appreared in the Russian men's magazine "Speed", with
nude photos of a real chess grandmaster, with the...

Portrait of a mentally sick genius by
PeteCasso
Sometimes one can see into the mind by looking at the body. I believe the
face shown in the portrait on the web page below reveals a very sick mind.

In 1723 Severino played first Sicilian Opening by
XaqaX
Hi there,
I have read that in the year 1723 Severino played the very first game
with a Sicilian Defense. But I cannot find any record of this game or
of the player named Severino. Is there anybody out there that might
have some details?
Also I am quite interested if anyone can point me in the direction of
some other early games played with the Sicilian Defense.
