Eating steak before a chess match by
Alex Dvorak
I read in a book that Garry Kasparov usually eats a giant steak before
a chess match. The logic was that it would give him long lasting
energy during the later parts the game.
A couple questions/points:
1)
I always thought that since it is tough meat since i always order
"well done", that it requires a lot of energy for your body to digest
it and would cause fatigue. But I guess since he has...

Fritz v Topalov in Bilbao by
PeteCasso
Superagressive French defence by Topalov with g5, g4 and h5. Fritz pulled
the King Bishop all the way back to b1. Optically, Topalov steamrollers
Fritz, but intuitively, one may suspect that this is the wrong kind of
anti-computer chess.
David Levy, one of the head honchos of computer chess, says on the chessbase
web site that this human v machine match is more interesting than the
Kramnik v...

Games from European Cup by
PeteCasso
are here (except for the last round)
http://www.chessbase.de/2004/izmir/runde1bis6.htm
with interesting games from Short, Adams, Bologan, Radjabov and others.
Kasparov is completely out of form, his only interesting game IMHO is the
one against Shirov with Shirov taking most of the credit for making the game
interesting. I heard that he drew in the last round too, ouch

Karjakin v Fritz in Bilbao by
PeteCasso
Karjakin opting for a very sharp Sicilian, hope he wins brilliantly,
otherwise everyone would say that he should have opted for a quiet Scottisch
game, similar to what people said to Topalov after his game yesterday. But
it is in any case exciting to watch the now unfolding tactics.

Now we have a match by
B. G.
Leko won the 8th game of his match against Kramnik. So far, I have
found the match to be boring and disappointing (but to be honest,
probably just as boring as Kramnik-Kasparov and Anand-Kasparov).
The 8th game was very exciting. A Marshall Attack in the Ruy Lopez,
with lots of tactical complications. I haven't looked at it closely,
but I'm surprised that Kramnik even allowed the Marshall....

Ivanchuk v Shirov at the European Cup by
PeteCasso
Shirov just sacrificed his e pawn with Ivanchuk's King in the centre ...
This is the third time now that the official site does not relay Kasparov's
game. This is particularly regretful now that he is scheduled to play Huzman
(sp?) who is in any case the one against whom he made his worst ever
blunder.

Chess is an inhumane game ! ! ! by
Brian Raab
It's even more sadistic and brutal than street fights in the streets
of Bangkok.
More people die each year after a game of chess than people die by car
accidents.
When will it stop? Why is such a sadistic game that drives people
insane and lets their brains implode not banned?
Chess truly is the most dangerous and brutal game ever, only a few

Another battle of the genders by
PeteCasso
http://www.novinite.com/view_news.php?id=39979
Woman World Champion Stefanova v FIDE Champion Kasimdzhanov scheduled for
December in Sofia, but the announcement lacks any further details.
Is this also a training match for Kasimdzhanov to prepare him against
Kasparov in January?
Or is this a replacement for the January match?
