Very Difficult Games. by
Sanny
Below are a few Games won By Help Bot at GetClub. The Games were
played with Normal Level. Despite such a hard program Help Bot managed
to win the games.
Now it is very difficult for me to understand why Help Bot win and
GetClub Lost the Matches. For me all moves looked correct only after
few moves I found it lost a pawn/ Knight in exchange.
Tell me the weakness in Games I type Below. And tell...

EJAY
With a draw today Gata Kamsky defeats Shirov 2.5-1.5 to win the World
Cup.He will go on to face Veselin Topalov which should prove to be a
tough Match. So now we have chess's version of the "Final Four".At some
point the Topalov-Kamsky winner will square off with the Anand-Kramnik
winner.I condider Anand at this point to be the Undisputed World
Champion !Congrats to Kamsky with this...

"Tal reminds me of Paganini" by
Chess One[_2_]
For Wlod, on his recent commentary here on the style of a player:
When I asked Mark Taimanov to compare musical style with Great chess
players, he replied:-
Well, for me the resemblance between Capablanca and Mozart is absolutely
evident. I would compare Lasker with Beethoven, and Steinitz with Bach.
Alekhine with his wealth of ideas and sense of harmony is akin to
Rachmaninoff. Smyslov's...

What is the Rating of Help Bot? by
Sanny
What is the Rating of Help Bot is it 1800? or 1900? or 2000?
As Beginner Level at GetClub is playing as good as Help Bot. However
it is a little weaker than Help Bot. As most of the games were won by
Help Bot while Beginner won only 2 of them.
If Help Bot is 1900 rated.
Beginner: 1850
Easy: 1950

Shirov-Kamsky Game 3 Draw by
EJAY
It an exciting Ruy Lopez Kamsky was able to force a draw.Shirov was
able to obtain two passed pawns on the queenside which looked
dangerous.Kamsky was able to cooly defend and forced a drawing
combination.I thought during the game if Shirov could get the queens
off the board he would win.Kamsky seeing farther was able to take
advantage of Shirov's weakened King's position. All Kamsky needs to...

Appeal from being put on Moderated Status by
samsloan
I hereby appeal from being put on Moderation, on several grounds,
including the following:
1. The moderation committee was newly formed and I was almost
instantly put on moderation. I was moderated retroactively for
postings I had made long before the moderation committee had been
informed. It is fundamentally unfair to give the new moderation
procedures retroactive application.
2. I was not...

Truong's Proposal to Take Over the US Team Selection Process by
samsloan
Paul Truong has made a proposal on his own forum which is www.chessdiscussion.com
that basically he take over the US Team selection process. He claims
that the board should not do that because they lack experience in this
matter.
Truong's proposal is obviously objectionable for a number of reasons
but those who have commented thus far do not seem to realize it.
In the first place, it is not...

Retrograde analysis and the 50-move rule by
Proginoskes
One type of retrograde analysis problem is determining whether a
particular set-up of the pieces can arise from a legitimate game.
Sometimes it can be shown that a position is "impossible" because a
piece (usually a bishop) had to get out from its original square, but
the only possible exits are blocked.
I got to thinking about "proofs of impossibility" and I wondered: Is
there a position which...
