if Fischer is 'illegal immigrant', why did Japan govt stop him leaving? by
banana
If Fischer has been classified as an 'illegal immigrant' in Japan, now
that his landing rights have been revoked retrospectively, apparently in
response to a letter from the US consul in the Philippines that he was
only told about at the airport last week (who would believe it was
really written in December?), then why did the Japanese authorities stop
him from LEAVING Japan?

The Fischer Indictment (article from 1992) by
Åge
Is Bobby Fischer a criminal? In December 1992 the following article in the
Lauderdale Sun Sentinel won a award from the Chess journalists of America.
THE FISCHER INDICTMENT
by GM Larry Evans and Larry Parr
"The indictment of Bobby Fischer raises the issue of whether it was a
criminal
act for an American citizen to play chess for money in Yugoslavia.

US didn't ask to extradite Fischer in 1997, so why might they now? by
banana
A letter from the US embassy in the Philippines, dated 11 December 2003,
states that Bobby Fischer's US passport was issued at the US embassy in
Switzerland on 24 January 1997. That's more than 4 years after the US
authorities issued an arrest warrant on 15 December 1992. Curious that
in 1997 they apparently weren't interested in enforcing it,...

Bobby Fischer is in Jail in Japan by

Russian players to go easy on each
other but put their full efforts against Fischer. As well as using
their almost monopoly of the chess world to press for rule changes
that would make it harder on him. IB one of the reasons this
vindication never came to light in the media at large is the fact that
as a person, he's a real asshole.
This clown seems to have "missed" the fact that the...

Why a relatively unknown player is World Champion by
BigKhat
Who is Kasimdzhanov? And how many of you know Khalifman before he
became World Champion?
We only get a steady diet of Kasparov, Anand, Kramnik, + the other
round robin GMs (a few of which lost when playing Kasimdzhanov).
These RR GMs are soft. In most games they only play a few moves and
take quick draws. It is not surprising to me that an unknown with
more fire in his belly wins because...

Who cares bout Big Mouth Bobby D Bigot????? by

Does anybody besides Gordo need anything else but the transcripts of Booby
Fissure's radio interviews to determine that Booby's insinuation that Jews
control America is completely and utterly ridiculous?
Probably you don't mean what you are saying here...

Adams up against the "K-Factor" by
Isidor Gunsberg
Adams has done well to manage to event the FIDE WC match, but he still
faces an uphill struggle, if history is any guide.
Players with surnames beginning with a "K" have demonstrated
themselves to be formidable players.
Karpov, Kasparov, and Kramnik are the 12th, 13th, and 14th World
Champions, respectively. Of course, one mustn't forget Khalifman, who
won the FIDE title. and then there is...

A Tale of Two Upsets by
Nick
Should GM Rustam Kasimdzhanov's victory at the 2004 FIDE World Championship
tournament be considered a greater upset than Maria Sharapova's victory in
the "ladies' singles" at the 2004 Wimbledon tennis tournament?

Quality, shmality. If your team wins the World Cup, who cares if they
did it because of the other team's errors? I love the time controls
used in this event, which otherwise would have produced 70% draws
(Corus, Linares, etc., etc.,). The playing field is level, both

Bobby Fischer is in Jail in Japan by

"The Masked Bishop" wrote in message
The real failure was his so-called friends, including chess leaders like
Edmondson, Evans and Benko, who let the "psychotic" prowl the world without
forcing him to get help.
You can't "force" a person with mental problems to get help.

Bobby Fischer Busted In Japan !! by

America might win a case against Fischer for tax evasion, but Spassky was not
prosecuted when he got back to France for playing him in 1992.

We'll hear about how the system is "playable," but the fact is,
3. d4 is "theory" for a reason: it's the OBVIOUSLY BEST MOVE.
Then why have Bent Larsen called 3.d4 a cheap bluff (possibly
with descriptions like "coffe-house")?

Chess Clock by

Chronos Chess Clock, DiGiBlitz, Duel Timer Travel+
Anyone have a good comparison between the Chronos, DiGiBlitz, and Duel Timer
Travel+ clocks?
I've used the Chronos and it is pretty good. One feature I absolutely have
to have is when one side's time runs out, the other side continues to tick.
This allows both players' flags to "fall" just like the old analog clocks.
I know the Chronos has this...
