Who's #3?? by Kim
there has been much debate as to who is the best chess player of all time and it seems it almost always comes down to 2: bobby fischer and gary kasparov. setting aside that debate for the moment (just assuming that they are 1 and 2, you pick the order) who would you consider next in line?

Vadim Milov Speaks Out On Racism !! by Nick
(Parrthenon) wrote: Morten Sand was considered one of the REFORMERS in FIDE, an improvement on the likes of a Makropoulos or a Ghobash. Maybe he is. But he is still a snake. How exquisitely low. Larry Parr's personal name-calling against Morten Sand is irrelevant to the facts of the dispute between GM Vadim Milov and FIDE. One notes that he does not dispute FIDE...

How much are "Open Book Odds" worth? by Sam Sloan
A common misconception weak players have is that they are weak and the strong players are strong only because the strong players have memorized more opening book lines. In the game of Scrabble, it is common for strong players to offer weak players "Dictionary Odds". Players who are not good at scrabble are allowed to look up words in the dictionary, which the strong player cannot do. It turns...

WANTED: Family to host German student chessplayer by Miriling
The Pacific Intercultural Exchange, an accredited foreign exchange student placement organization that has been in business for more than 27 years, is seeking a chess-playing family in Massachusetts that would like to host a 17-year-old boy from Dudelsheim, Germany, during the academic year in the United States. The boy, Nils Seume, is a serious chessplayer who has won championships at his school...

Adams advances to the final ... by PeteCasso
.... perhaps because Radjabov did not put on his holographic sunglasses on as I suggested! The parallel game between Topalov and Kasimdzhanov looks like a draw with Queens in such an open position ... hoping for interesting tiebreak games tomorrow! These geniuses may play exciting games inspite of rapid, etc.

Nakamura SUCKS in the opening by Ray Gordon
Adams proved it, as did the other guy who played the French against him and got a +2.07 position against him. He needs to study the opening a lot more. The steady diet of garbage openings American players served up took their toll on him when he hit the big time. Hopefully he'll learn and expand his repertoire before the next cycle. --

Bobby Fischer is the greatest and he is playing today by NoMoreChess
.. Short is a good player, but his information about who his opponent was in those games is no better than anyone else's information. A man one match away from being the Chess Champion of the World is described as merely "a good player". A man who had yet to play GARRY KASPAROV is described as being just "one

Fischer-Tal, Belgrade Candidates 1959 by Bill Brock

Ignorance in Action: GM Tomic's astounding blunder by NoMoreChess
.. At one website which publishes "Internet Grandmaster" Goran Tomic's articles entitled "Strike A Light," there appeared an article called: "Newsgroups and Ignorance in Action." The complaint of this particular article centers around "foul-mouthed" newsgroup posters here (and in rec.games.chess.politics), who are accused of insulting the giants of chess, and in particular (knowing Goran Tomic),...

Vadim Milov Speaks Out On Racism !! by Parrthenon
Morten Sand was considered one of the REFORMERS in FIDE, an improvement on the likes of a Makropoulos or a Ghobash. Maybe he is. But he is still a snake. How exquisitely low. One notes that he does not dispute FIDE having sent the invitation on the day of arrival. John Fernandez will note, correctly in a warped sense, that Milov could have gotten to Tripoli SOMEHOW. If it were too late to...

RGCP a "barren dessert": irrigation plan, step one by NoMoreChess
.. Several posters have recently complained of the arrid conditions in these parts, of the rocky, clay soil and rampant infestation of weeds which makes for tough growing conditions for fertile ideas. I have often joined them, cursing the darkness and even on occasion, watering a few of the lowly weeds. But nomore! Starting now, I will begin my irrigation plan, and my first step will be to...

Fritz 8 Help by Matt Nemmers
I've recently had to re-install Fritz 8 on my laptop. I go to File, Print, Publish Game to publish my games on my various websites and after it asks for a filename and I select a directory to save the files to, it acts like it's publishing. After about 20 seconds, I get this pop-up message: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error!
