Being a Jew and a Liar by
Rolf Tueschen
I want to know how you judge this.
In a private forum a Jewish chess programmer (Omid David) always writes hate
propaganda pro Israel and against Arafat and his Palestinians. Nothing wrong
with that IMO, what would you expect from an Israeli?
But his lies go so far that he for example calls a late German politician, a
former Vice Chancellor of Germany, Juergen W. Moellemann from Muenster, a...

My memory is unphotographic when it comes to the mundane details of

wood boards by
The Collins Family
This is a question. My dad recently was laid off from work. He is a master
wood craftsman and I asked him to make me a chess board for christmas, which
he did. It is a beautiful piece and nicer than anything I have seen in the
stores or on ebay. It there a market for this? Any suggestions as to ways
to go about seeing what kind of possibilities exist for him out there?
He said it takes him...

Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me how many squares are needed
on a standard chessboard? I am looking to make a chessboard, and need some
starting dimensions -- any useful information would be greatly apprecaited.
Thank you,

A few questions I would like to ask readers, if I may:
A lot of sites out there offer chess by email with a graphical interface

there offering this service free of charge without limitation to users?
And, the sites that offer premium benefits with paid...

Suggestions of software to improve ones chess. by
Dr. David Kirkby
Has anyone any views as to what is the best software to improve ones
chess? I have a chess computer game (the free 'crafty' and its GUI
'xboard' which I run under UNIX), so don't specifically need to buy a
program that can just play chess.
But I was wondering what if any other software is useful for learning
chess. There seems to be n-million bits of software, that say they
will improve your...

My daughter's first game by
sandirhodes
First of all, let me preface this story with the disclaimer that I don't intend to do a lot of crossposting to various newsgroups
with silly posts about my family and other off-topic crap, like a certain chessfellow tends to do.
That said, I would like to tell you about my daughter's first game of chess. She was exactly 2 years, 3 months and 2 days old at
the time. Now mind you, I have never...

My Experience with Native Americans by
Jerome Bibuld
Dear "publius",
Heil Dubya!
If Nemmers, a mercenary in the U. S. Navy, says it and it pretends to refer to
human relations, of course, it's a crock.
I know very few indigenous North Americans, but those with whom I have
discussed the issues seem to think in terms of their own indigenous North
American NATIONS (NOT "tribes"), rather than in terms of the continent. They

Man vs Machine classics by
Jestrada
Are there any important omissions that belong in this list?
1996 Kasparov - Deep Blue (4.0-2.0)
1997 Kasparov - Deep Blue (2.5-3.5)
2002 Kramnik - Deep Fritz (4.0-4.0)
2003 Kasparov - Deep Junior (3.0-3.0)
2003 Kasparov - X3D Fritz (2.0-2.0)
I'm not sure if this deserves to be in the same category as the above:
2002 Larry Christiansen - Chessmaster 9000 (1.5-2.5)

Thought I'd share the position reached in this game as I thought it
was pretty nifty... at least aesthetically. Of course not the most

On openings for beginners - a question by
Kirk McElhearn
Ah, the eternal problem of openings... There's no way I'm going to spend
my limited time memorizing openings, especially with the many variations
they entail. So what's the best way to learn openings? Pick one or two
basic openings and study them? (e4 and d4, and, say, a couple of
follow-ups) Or just learn one opening well and use it always as white,
while improvising as black?
Thanks,
Kirk
