Chessmaster 9000 - puzzle of the day by
Jestrada
When loading CM9000, it begins with a "puzzle of the day". Is there a
place somewhere in the program where these can be done one after
another? They range from practicing pins, forks, mates, escaping mate
etc. I know that these are listed separately in the drills, but is
there a place where you can do the daily puzzles, so you get some
variety?

Bill Goichberg for Executive Director of the United States Chess Federation by
Sam Sloan
Bill Goichberg for Executive Director of the United States Chess
Federation
Let's face it. Bill Goichberg is already the Acting Executive Director
of the United States Chess Federation. He has been so and has served
without pay since Grant Perks was fired.
I think that Bill Goichberg is and ought to be made permanent as
Executive Director.

Looking for chess set by
MC
When I was 9 yrs old my oldest brother taught me the moves. I played for a
while but gave up the game and now have come back after 26 yrs!
I remember my brother had this very nice chess set, with soldiers as pawns,
actual knights riding on horses, castle towers for rooks, the king and
queen, etc. I have been looking for a set similar to that, just to bring
back the wonderful memories of...

A psychological question... by
Marco
Are there any players at FIDE master, IM or even GM level who
find it very difficult if not impossible to play blindfold?
Or to follow games without seeing the position in front of
them?
Thanks,
Marco

Results of 2003 Pan-American InterCollegiate Team Chess Championships? by
Isidor Gunsberg
Does anybody know of a website that lists the results of 2003
Pan-American InterCollegiate Team Chess Championships, held in Miami,
Florida, this past weekend? I've heard that UT--Dallas won, while UMBC
could only garner 2nd. UMBC lost its big match vs.
UT-Dallas....However, I have yet to be able to find a crosstable, or
find out how the rest of the teams fared. Any information is
appreciated....

strange problem a few years ago by
Jud McCranie
I saw a strange chess problem on the internet a few years ago - I
couldn't solve it. It was something like: "construct a game where
black mates with a rook on the 5th move", but I'm not sure that was
it. It was something like that, but it seemed impossible to solve to
me.
Does anyone know of the problem I'm talking about and its solution?

Blindfold 2 by
Alexander Fischer
Folks,
reading through the thread "psychological question", I'm asking myself
whether being able to play blindfold should really be a sign of good
chess-playing capabilities. I consider myself to be a rather weak player
among people who play chess regularly (and probably weaker than most of the
posters in this group). Maybe this is because my play is mostly tactical,
trying to make no bad moves...
