chess set and board with a cover? by JJNeet1
Anyone know of a chess board and set with a cover? It would have to be a Staunton,or traditional tournament style, but the pieces could be smaller. The cover would prevent the f*****g cat from knocking my pieces all over the place.I could leave a position set up,and be able to come back to it later and study the position, instead of having to look all over the house for the missing piece. Thanks,...

Blindfold Chess by matt
Does anybody know of a plugin or hidden option (I've looked hard and found nothing) that allows one to play blindfold chess against the computer in Fritz 8? I'm pretty sure I read a story about a room full of GMs playing on blank boards on the computer, and I think it was from Chessbase.com. Thanks, Matt.

Chess Lite by Donna Walters
My Chess Life arrived today. It looks like a NY Times insert. And it had an insert! Which almost doubled the total number of pages. It is a good thing that the USCF only has 90,000 members. If they had a monopoly they would probably go bankrupt.

Interview with Paul Truong by tomic
Interview with Paul Truong - In the interest of truth and fair play- Mr. Truong was very kind to answer to some questions which I have sent him. Goran Tomic: I have read your interview conducted by GM Susan Polgar on Chess Cafe. The interview was very interesting, but some facts are not clear enough.

A little experiment by Alberich
For GM Susan Polgar: I would like you to try this experiment. (Not that I actually think you'd follow such a suggestion, but I think it's worth thinking over in the meantime). If you have access to a computer with a copy of a Chessbase commercial playing engine like Fritz, Junior or Shredder try this: set up the board with the standard moves of the Smith Morra Gambit and play the Black pieces...

Chronos Clock question by tyrone slothrop
I want to buy this bag... http://www.wholesalechess.com/display_product.html?product_id=26 Those that have a chronos and this bag, or similar, does it fit in the pocket? Is the Chronos so far superior to the Seitek II or Excalibur? Much thanks. I'm also looking for some Drueke plastic pieces. Any one know of any special deals? Again… thank you for your time

Spectator Etiquette: Is it proper to Keep score for a Friend in Time Trouble? by Isidor Gunsberg
Recently, I was involved in a situation as a spectator at a chess game. I was watching a game involving a friend of mine. He was in time Pressure, and had less than 5 minutes left on his clock, in a Sudden Death Time Control situation. Therefore, he no longer had an obligation to keep score.

10 x 10 x 10 3D chess by jeff fairchild
I am looking for information on a variation of 3D chess developed by a Sacramento California Company in 1990. It was palyed in a 10x10x10 cube with the sides starting on oposite edges, (top front, bottom back). There was an extra piece added, I beleive they called it a duke, that had a 3D move. I used to have a book on it but have misplaced it and forgoten the name of the outfit that was pushing...

Dan Heisman's "An Improvement Plan" Question by tyrone slothrop
Hello. I was wondering if I could solicit some opinion's on "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Chess." I've decided to follow Dan Heisman's "Improvement Plan" at chesscafe.com. Should I read the "Idiot's" book, or should I move directly to step 2. Three years ago I read Capablanca's "Primer of Chess" and Ewue's "Logical approach to chess." I haven't done any studying or much playing since then. Thank...

How tall are strong chess players? by Wlodzimierz Holsztynski
On one hand Morphy, Steinitz, Reshevski, Najdorf, Bronstein, Tal, Petrosian were short (Bronstein still is), on the other hand Marshall, Euve, Keres, Smyslov, Fischer, Kramnik were or are tall. Also Alechine was fairly tall, and so is Spassky. Do strong women chess players tend to be on the short side? Some chessplayers are/were medium tall for their generation and environment but short on the...

In the Land of the Free, We Fight "Terrorists" by Jerome Bibuld
Heil Dubya! When I was in the sixth grade, I had a teacher, Mrs. Wilson, who used to tell us how wonderful it was to live in the United States. Her favorite reason was that, while people had to carry identification at all times in other countries, we could walk the streets with no identification at all and, as long as we were peaceful, we were safe from governmental interference. Oh, well,...

Hi there, i was fidlling with chessbase 8, and was wondering how to create these great multimedia annotations, with red squares pointing at an attacked square, two arrows indicating a skewer, etc etc. I've seen it in other ppl's chessbase files. Is this done outside chessbase? Because I can't find it in chessbase itself. thanks in advance,

USCF catalog models by Alex
Hi, I was wondering how I can apply for a job to be a model in the USCF catalog. I think it would be cool to be paid to hold chess equipment and have a big smile on my face too.
