Jury finds Maryland chess star innocent in Internet sex case by

An excellent point to extend the logic of those who wish to call both Simpson
and Sherzer guilty of crimes which juries have ruled they did not commit!
Dear Mr. Bibuld,
With all due respect to juries, they are subject to human fallibilities,...

IQ test by
I'm conducting an experiment for college on behalf of the gifted program.
The following is an IQ test which I'm administering to various individuals.
The scores will be quantified later. The designers of the test are gifted
individuals whose names will remain anonymous. The test is genius level,
with a floor of 121 IQ and a ceiling of upwards of 190. In a word, it is

Queening to queen VS Queening to rook or bishop by
Seabook
Hi guys,
Do any of you guys know actual chess games or problems where queening
a pawn to a queen instead to just a rook or a bishop gives results
worse than queening to rook or bishop?
The reason I'm asking for these is I was having a discussion about
"optimizing" a computer chess engine with an expert in the field
(Guess who that is.). I first suggested that the chess engine could
just skip...

Bobby Fischer and taxes by
Ivan
Why doesn't Bobby Fischer just the IRS his taxes so that he can return
back to the USA? I am sure that he misses living here and eating the
nice food and watching baseball games.
If not, he should at least move to Canada. That country has no
culture and they want to be just like the USA anyway.

Does the USCF return your diskette? by
Ivan
When you send a tournament report via computer floppy, will the USCF
return your floppy after the event has been rated?
If not, then they should put something on the form to let people know
that they won't get their disks back. This is just another example of
how the USCF likes to place burdens on its TDs. Especially when the
TDs are the ones who are bringing the "much needed" revenue to...

Religions are for suckers. Better to believe in the Easter Bunny really.
Eventually, a belief in the Easter Bunny, who always has been peaceful, might

A word for Nick Bourbaki: Nomorechess is Greg Kennedy.
The "style," if that is quite the word, is inimitable.
Right down to the grammatical and spelling mistakes.
Years ago Mr. Kennedy used to talk about finding a spellchecker that would

pawn promotion by

for those interested in 'pawn promotion,' i would like to report that i

it contains two databases involving pawn promotion examples ( among other

'pawn promotion' database has about 145 examples. 'pawn promotion advanced'
has 45 more.
some of these are old pearls from troitsky but there are...

Sherzer Derby: Best Team names at the US Amateur Teams by
Isidor Gunsberg
It'll be interesting to see what kind of team names, playing on the
Sherzer case and his noteriety, will be coined at the 2004 Amateur
Team Championships. One suspects that he will be a font of inspiration
for more than a few teams. Probably, the Amateur Teams will be one
event that he opts to skip.
