Handheld computer by Timothy R. Bonine, M.D.
Looking for a decent handheld chess computer. I'm leaning toward the Saitek/Mephisto Advanced Travel Chess Computer. The Saitek Cosmos looks nice, but it's a little bigger than I want. Is there another good one I should check out that is under $100.00? Thanks, Tim

Sicilian Books by DDEckerslyke
Started playing again a couple of years ago on the internet and recently joined a good OTB club. I'm now at the level where I'm not hanging pieces and I can see some short combinations etc. (My ICC blitz is an astronomical 1600.) Anyway, I used to play the French, my rationale was that after e6 White is on my ground, the problem is that I reckon I might be better off playing open games so I'd...

How to use Fritz to learn from a strong players games? by Kenneth
Hello, I've been told that it is good to study games by players slightly stronger than me. I have been able to download games from such players. But how do I use Fritz to analyze them? I know I can load the games into the Fritz database. But I was told that I can create an opening index from it, to learn their openings and how they deal with it -- this I dont know how?

OT: Just Wondering by Nick
(Sam Sloan) wrote in message ...(to Kevin Bachler): I see. So, you are a Christian! This explains your screwball ideas on various subjects. Sam Sloan may dispute Kevin Bachler's religious beliefs and his alleged "screwball ideas on various subjects", but it's foolish for Mr. Sloan to contend that all of Mr. Bachler's "ideas on...

A question about the US Women's Olympiad team by Paul Truong
This is a very racist and inappropriate remark. It is offensive to the ladies and the people who are working very hard to make things happen for US Chess. We give all players the same respect. The players get along with each other very well. As I said, we went by ratings. We have 5 ladies to date. 1 was originally from Hungary (Susan), 2 from Ukraine (Irina and Anna), 1 from Georgia (Rusa),...

The Great Annotated Empty Moving Boxes Robbery by Peter van der Hoog
Tim Krabbé also took notice of the "The Great Annotated Empty Moving Boxes Robbery"? He finds the story "heartbreakingly funny, on a par with I was tortured at the Pasadena Jailhouse". http://www.xs4all.nl/~timkr/chess2/diary.htm Krabbé is, in an awkward sarcastic way, disappointed in Fischer: "Vintage Fischer - except that one word is shockingly missing - Jew. One thing I never thought Bobby...

The New Gang of Four by Sam Sloan
The New Gang of Four The term "Gang of Four" comes of course from the group that ruled China when Chairman Mao was still alive but too infirm to be an effective ruler. The leader of the Gang of Four was the wife of Chairman Mao. After Chairman Mao died and the Gang-of-Four was overthrown, the gang members were all put in prison where they remained until they died. The first time I ever heard...
