I had been wondering why Jim Eade has been so quiet about the Timothy

Improve Blindfold Chess by
Matthew
I play a little "blindfold chess" (without sight of the board) and would
like to improve my play.
I have noticed that I have two problems.
After about twenty moves, I can still remember where the pieces are, one at
a time. However, I cannot see the whole board in my head. What I mean is,
I have trouble seeing the pieces relationships to each other. I could set
up the current position on a...

Sherzer Update by
Howard Goldowsky
Doing an internet search, I found the following link:
http://www.al.com/news/mobileregister/index.ssf?/base/news/10625810186091.xml
Evidently, Sherzer's case begins Thursday (9-18).
Perhaps they'll be a few articles published about the case in the
local Alabama papers. I still have not found any information telling
if the trial will be made public, and if reporters will be allowed in.
There was...

Most active forums? by
Liberty
Every hobby or interest seems to have one spot on the net that is generally
more active than others. Is there such a spot for Chess forums? I've found a
lot of forums but none seem to have a lot of activity. Is rec.games.chess*
the "home" for chess discussion on the net?

Ungilded Monuments - Grandmaster Vladimir Simagin
by Lev Khariton
The chess community, as well as any other community, has always had
its heroes and idols. Some of them were more gilded, while others were
less gilded. The first category comprised World Champions, challengers
for the world title, authors of famous chess books, great
theoreticians, the second group embraced those who...

USCF plans to give the Books and Equipment business to Malcolm Pein by
Sam Sloan
The word is out: USCF plans to give the Books and Equipment business
to Malcolm Pein. The deal which was negotiated by Tim Hanke will be
inked at the Executive Board this weekend.
This is, of course, a great idea, but I do have a couple of small
questions about it.
Malcolm Pein lives in England and has no office or operations in the
USA. He plans to move to America and set up operations here....
