David Houpt
Hi
I didn't get flamed the last time that I did this so I hope its OK to
let you know that I am selling a number of old chess books on Ebay.
The nicest of which is probably the deluxe Amsterdam 1950 tournament
book.

Corporate Chess Leagues by
Ned Walthall
I am wondering if there is way we get chess going in the workplace?
In my own experience, the biggest problem is getting a chess club going
is finding space to meet. Finding players, even in age of declining USCF
membership, has never been much of a problem, at least not for me.
In my area, around Princeton, New Jersey, there is a softball league in
which teams from various companies play one...

Sherzer Defense strategy by
Isidor Gunsberg
It turns out that the decision to have Sherzer go on the stand, and
admit wrongdoing was quite correct. It was a big risk, but it paid off
for him. By essentially admitting to what the State accused him of
doing, he allowed the jury to focus on the nature of the crime (even
the Prosecutor admitted that Sherzer's actions might be interpreted as
barely legal), and on the entrapment defense. I'm...

Great players in history and their favorite openings by
tyrone slothrop
Is there a website that has statistics on what famous players favorite
openings were/are? I remember that Schiller had a book called "World
Champion Openings" that broke down the opening preferences of world
champions. I'm looking for something like that. Thanks

The Prosecution Rests: The End is Near by
Isidor Gunsberg
Interesting list of the items found in Sherzer's Hotel Room.
One of the notebooks was supposedly written by Scherzer in
"Hungarian"
(the language is known as Magyar)
The black Doctor's kit bag is a nice touch...

Luxury Combo chess set by
Kennet
Hello,
I was thinking of buying a new chess set and found Luxury Combo sets on
Chesscenter web shop (http://www.chesscenter.com/shop/). Does anybody
have any experience on that set? Is it worth the money? If you know any
other good chess sets on the net I would be interested to know.

Alex Sherzer Is INNOCENT!! by
LeModernCaveman
To say he's guilty would be to say that is because:
1. He and the girl were not married at the time of the meeting; and/or
2. He chose to cross state lines rather than having already lived in Alabama
at the time he met the girl.
In either case, even if you grant that he had the intent to have sex with her,
that act, in and of itself, was not harmful to the girl, as the state of
Alabama...

Sherzer found not guilty. by
Kenneth C.
This proves that a jury can sometimes make a correct decision! I did not
think he could possibly be found guilty, but I've seen juries make some
pretty bad decisions. Here's the story:

Who has some information about the Californian player Bruce Kopet?
Phisical appearence, playing strength, etc. etc. He used to be my
correspondent, but no longer, and i would like to know more about him.
He should be quite a charachter, selling chess books all the time. He
told me he is a dealer in chess literature. Thank you for your
feedback.

In Florida, we give our FCA Presidents free lifetime memberships in
the FCA. Doesn't the USCF do something similar for its Presidents and
past-Presidents? If not, it should.

Actually, they should be charged at least double.

Bobby Fischer, let's bring him home. by
Kenneth C.
When is the chess community going to come together, and make the effort
needed, to allow Bobby to come home from his cruel exile? It is really a
shame what has been done to Bobby!

Kasparov Book by
Angelo DePalma
It's absolutely a monumental chess book. Extremely well researched. Great
games, and stunningly beautiful analysis with lots of verbal commentary. No
computer dumps or variation orgies! Lots of diagrams too, so it can be read
without a board. Garry is respectful in his praise of 19th century players
while pointing out their weaknesses. None of his arrogance comes through,
just his genius.
It's...
