Chess set/pieces/accessories in Canada by
Chess Learner
Hello,

the web, but many of them are from the US and the shipment cost + tax alone
can be close to what the price is. I am looking for tournament approved
chess pieces and...

Isidor Gunsberg
An intersting tidbit:
The First Saturday Web Site states that an Alex Lenderman, from the
USA, has earned an IM Norm in the August "First Saturday" IM
Tournament.
The site also says that Lenderman is just 13, and gives his
rating as 2219.
In earning the IM norm, he had a TPR of 2513, by scoring 10.0

How to Play the Opening in Chess by R. Keene is out of print. Another book
shows 'Openings in Modern Theory and Practice' published 2002. Is the latter an

Improving Players' Lists by
I.M. Provement
These lists are very informative and thus helpful for improving
players, such as myself.
Have you ever heard of the maxim: "Attack yourself and defend your
opponent first, before you attack your opponent and defend yourself"?
This would apply to looking ahead before you make actual moves, and
not apply to making moves on the board. Who would really make a move
to weaken his/her own position...

Historical Ratings by
Jeremy Spinrad
I have not posted yet on this because I now have an enormous amount of output. I
will probably have to give a very brief summary and put the deatiled data on a
web page. Let me know if there is any aspect of these ratings for 1836-1863 which
you would particularly like to see discussed.
